So.... despite all the bad press and publicity I traded my 2015 SLT for a 16 XL Denali. Bridgestone tires... just needed the additional room. Car payment and remaining months stayed the same due to the 0% financing promo.

700 miles in and I am constantly having to pop my ears, it makes me nauseous to drive. Worst from 38-45mph and 70+. It vibrates like crazy, has the roughest idle ever and I am so mad at myself.

What's the best route to take here? Already had it in once for the window controls rattling.

What should I do fellas? Appointment set with service for Thursday 2/17

Did it come on suddenly or was it evident during test drives?

At this point it's just get everything documented and I'd also let GM know.

Others can chime in with more helpful info I'm sure.

Sorry to hear.

Test drive was 5 min... never felt it because I was so enamored with getting my 2015 SLT traded for the 16 Denali XL. Even my kids notice it.... they complain about the pressure.

Ugh. Well. Lesson learned I suppose.

Anyway...

Log a case with GM. Lemon laws are strict. If they say the tires have flat spots don't let them also say "wait another 500 miles and it'll work itself out" or something like that. Time is your enemy. Dealers are fully aware of this issue. They just play dumb. There are service notices about this (TSB's) you can point them too. Dragging their feet is typical it seems. Be persistent. Have the service manager do a ride along too. Helps if they admit to feeling it while you're there.

Dealer should have a list of things to try...
(i say try b/c they still havent sorted it all out)

stuff i have seen/heard, so far: (small list)
-get rid of bridgestone tires (have dealer get you something of quality)
-road force balance your new tires
-change out front &/or rear driveshaft
-disable AFM w/ either range device or a tune
-change body mounts (this is new update on 17's)

And if they look at me like I'm stupid then what? My kids literally have headaches and road sickness from 30 mile rides. We have only owned Yukons.... this blows.

You were (as you noted) stubborn enough to buy a $70k+ vehicle with known issues without a thorough test drive. You'll be bull headed enough to power through this.

This is THEIR ISSUE not yours.

Call GM. tell them the car is making your kids sick. Get a case started. They'll work with you on this. The dealer will also try to resolve. If they don't believe you do a ride along and have them do a pico test to measure vibration.

Fair enough. I knew the possibility was there... I just love Yukons. This sucks. Will the dealer give me a comparable loaner? I need the big vehicle. I'm a single dad

If you can get a case started and them working on the issues, I know eliminating the bridge stones helped alot on the vibrations. Work on getting the dealer to swap them out for Michelin tires and have them road force balanced as said above.

I have been through this but with a different issue. My advice is read the Lemon Law procedure in your state. You can do this with a simple Google search. My best advice is to contact a Lemon Law attorney which you can do with a Google search also. Normally there is no out of pocket expense depending which state you live in. My state actually had a list of recommended attorneys at the Attorney Generals Office. GM and GM no customer service are not your friends. They will take their time, lie to you and try to wear you down. No matter how frustrated you get don't give up. This is not a quick process. Document, Document, Document. Document all conversations and make sure you get a copy of all work orders. The last thing you can try before anything else is talk to the General Manager at the Dealer and see if he would be willing to put you into another vehicle without a financial loss. If you win the Lemon Law case you should loose very little monetarily which is usually just mileage. If you need any info just ask and I will do my best to help. Good luck.

I have a 16 Denali XL as well and as luck would have it on my side the only issue I have had is with the 4WD needed to be refreshed. It runs quite, and smooth and gets great milage. I have also towed a 7000lbs camper with it with no hic ups yet . I really hope you resolve your issues.
I do have something to say though other than this. Before I went to the big SUV ( had a Suburban before trading to the yukon) I owned a Montana SV6 . The Dealer I bought that from gave me such a run around about everything and anything warranty related I was ready to give up on GM . One of my friends said I should go and see his dealer ship to see if they would do anything for me.. boy I am glad I did . They repaired everything that I complained about with no hesitation and also went one step further and went looking for all other problems that would be covered under the warranty and repaired them as well.
Because of this I continuoisly return to that dealer for everything including the oil changes .They restored my faith in GM .
Maybe if you took it to another dealership they will treat you better. Probably not trade you into a new one but maybe help resolve the issues. Just saying

This is the best advice. They always will delay and attempt to draw it out much longer than necessary. Their lawyers are on retainer, so extra time doesn't cost them anything.

Before you start the lemon law process, go speak to the GM. Stay *very* calm and professional and just attempt to have him empathize with your situation. This has worked for me more often that I would have thought, it's basically like hey man, I'm sure there's something we can do. This is making my kids sick, I know it's not your fault, but I'm hoping you can be part of the solution ...

Good luck.

Took it out today and even pulling my Ranger.... once I hit 35mph it becomes evident. Just bummed... I love Yukons. I'm hoping they will loan me one while they look at mine. I fish tournaments and need to be able to pull the boat!

Like others say, work with GM....we have a '17 and dont have the vibration issue . I have a work mate with a '15 Denali (with over 30k miles now) and he's never had the vibration issue from day one (or even if it's there, he hasn't noticed it). And he commutes 60 miles one way daily to work 5days/wk.

I always wonder about all these problems on these trucks and I see the commercial with the J.D.Powers Award 3 or 4 years running. Is it just people been picky or what?
I'm in Long Island NY and I go to Basketball Games every weekend.
The parking lots is Full of GM & GMC trucks. They ruled around here.
My truck was built August 2016 in Texas. How many other factories are there? Can they narrow it down to a certain place...
I would love to meet with some owners on a weekend to test drive each other's truck just to see.

You know if you have it. At 75 it literally vibrates like you're on rumble strips. Ear pressure is probably more based on the person. Booming is noticeable but some people I know that have one with that problem hear it but just don't really care. I drove about 5 on my search and I think 3 of them had it.

My guess is that a lot of the moms who drive these never get them up to a speed that they can feel it kick in.

It's fairly common. My mom had to take her grand cherokee to the jeep dealership last summer for some work to be done and they gave her an enterprise loaner. The enterprise had to give her a comparable vehicle and we ended up with a 15 SWB yukon slt that was riding on 18s. And we no more than drove down the street from enterprise and she noticed it right off the bat. Got on the freeway and sure enough it was booming terribly. It was pretty bad. But I know quite a few that haven't had any issues at all. It's weird.

But seriously if anybody wants to test drive their ride. We have Wantagh State Parkway to Ocean Pwky. Easily you can do a 100 with np.
