I am putting a 2" block in the rear of my 1997 tahoe. If I crank my torsion bars up, can i fit 285/75r16s? I know they'll fit in the back, not sure about the front... btw i do not have stock rims. I have cragar soft 8's... 16x7 with a 4" backspacing. Any ideas are appreciated.

thanks,
mike

You may need to trim a bit due to the offset but yes they will fit. I saw a guy running 37s on another forujm with just cranked keys and blocks...stock wheels but still. It looked wat to stuffed but I think you will be ok. You will end of trimming the front valance and maybe the corners of the wheels wells.

how far can i crank my front keys? i actually have the front lowered an inch and a quarter, just for the nose down look. so you figure, after i go back up that 1.25 inches... how much further? and after the crank... how big of a risk do i run of rubbing the tops of the fender would you say and how much clearance between tire and fender?

mike

ps-
found someone on CL with a package for sale... what do you guys think?

When you crank you want to make sure you have enough suspension travel and your cvs are not at bad angles. Many guys crank until the arms hit the stops, that is bad and causes the rough ride. I went up about 1.5" from stock height and that seemed a fine distance.

The wheels and tires is not a bad price I guess, does not include mounting and balancing. shop around online a little to double check that price.

You in the philly area? I'm out in pottstown.

im actually about an hour northeast from philly... Bridgewater, NJ. Small world haha

The rims and tires come mounted and balanced according to the guy.

Also, how far does one turn on the key raise or lower the front end?

AND my lift blocks should be here today :)

285s

hey mike, i got a 96 totallystock suspension. i got 285s when the factory rubber wore out and they fit on the stock rims and they don't rub unless i go offroad and then only if i hit a big bump at higher speeds. the problem is when they hit the tires do get cut up on the corners. i like the look of them and i might try the torsion bar thing just to get a little more clearance. also i plan to see the body man when i get the truck painted and see if he can trim the wells where the tires rub. i figure if he can take a little of material out and smooth it out so maybe if the tires do rub they don't get cut up. fyi my tires are the 28575r16 bf goodrich tkos and they still have some tread on them after about 60k. i believe that particular tire is almost 33" tall.

Hey guys yeah i got the tires... theyre literally like new... less than 200 miles on em. did a 2 inch block and cranked the front... the fenderwells sit at about 37 inches. I also threw a set of KC daylighters on the front considering i got em from work for nothin :)... no rubbage at all... in the pic the front looks a little higher cuz i literally just finished readjusting the bars... they settled in now and it looks level.
