Passenger door lock for 2000 Tahoe Z71 (old body style)

My 2000 Tahoe front passenger door and window switch stopped working. I had someone replace it. I seem to remember (not knowing if standard or not), I thought the front passenger door lock switch would still work with the key out of the ignition. When I turn on the engine, both the window and door switch works. Can someone confirm when the ignition key is out, does the front passenger door lock still work or do you have to have the accessory or engine on for the front passenger door switch to work. Thanks.

Power door locks always worked with the key off. I don't own a 2000 or have a wire diagram but my 98 and 97 work with the key off and so does my 2008 Envoy.
