You could always look at the hitch mounted spare tire set up. Or if you're into custom fab work do a swing out off your rear bumper.

Redoing the exhaust sounds expensive. I think I'm going to look at mounting it inside. Also, my rims are apparently 17s from a newer Tahoe, with 33" tires. Will 33s even fit in the stock location? I recall seeing guys mention that a full size spare for larger than stock tires don't fit. But I don't know that this small increase over stock is enough to matter.

It looks like just the right side would need redone. Though the winch looks suspect. 62953dbce0e4524f245b844c72c16bfd.jpgea89f2447ec9017391a192adfdb8c77a.jpg

I had the cable break on one in the middle of an intersection once while it was snowing after work. I was in dress shoes and fell twice retrieving it. That was fun.

+1 on rerouting the exhaust. In my yukon xl I have the back seats out and there is a mounting point where the seat locks in to a cargo latch on the driver side tied down with a ratchet strap. It's a temp fix until I can fix my spare holder. My 05 sierra has 35x12.5 toyo mt's with matching spare that fits no problem.

New exhaust only axle back would only be around $75-$150 max. Not like a full cat back including muffler. After the axle is the easy part
