My wifes 2000 Yukon SLT measures 34.5" F and 35.25" R respectively(she might be sagging a bit in the rear, no pun intended) at the top of the fenderwalls with 265/75/16's(same diameter as my stocker 265/70/17's on my 2003 Z71).

My Z71 measures 35.25"F and 37.25" R.

Now my q. If I'm buying a 3/5 drop kit that seems to be universal for both, and I'm putting 22's on my Z this spring, with 305/45/22's, am I really going to be dropping more like 7 inches in the rear from stock? I'm already 2 inches taller than her truck now in the rear, and understand the Z71's were built so.

It's got me thinking that I really can't do a 3/5 but a 2/3 on a universal kit. I'd like to get about an 1-1.25" gap on my 22's in the front and about the same in the rear, maybe 1.25-1.5 at the most.

If I got a lowering kit for her, she'd be tucking on the stocker's at 31.5"F and definitely tucking in the rear at 30.25"R, with a 31.6" tire, nevermind a 22 rolling at 32.80".

Is there something I'm missing here with the universal lowering kits?

I've got a 3/5 on 22's with 275/40/22 & I've got ~ 1.25"-1.50" gap.

I'm sitting at ~32.25" in the rear & ~31.75" in the front.

You're not accounting for how much, or little, your trucks have already sagged. It's pretty common. You won't be down in the 30's...you can't be or you're axle will be riding the frame...

Even with a 6" drop spring I was sitting at 31.125" in the rear. Both of your trucks have sagged. Everything will sag & settle a little differently...

With the 3/5.5 drop i have on my site on 305 40 22 you will be sitting at 32.5 in front and 32.75 in rear.

your truck seemed to have sagged overtime but nothing to worry about it happens. Check out this kit and im sure you will be very happy with it as cameron (person that posted above) has the same kit in his tahoe and it rides nice

How much wheel-well gap on 305/45/22'S? I don't have 40's. I ended getting too good a deal and wasn't fussy about the fact that 45's were on it.

Will the 3/5.5 give me the 1.25 gap all the way round ? I don't want to run into rolling fenders or any other incumbrances if I don't have to. The LCA's to me are a limitation. I get 3 inches and can go lower, but cant go higher, right? I'm sure I'm already cranked up on my stocker.

I'm thinking right now, spindles and cranking down my stock keys a tad, while going with standard drop kit out back for the 5 or 5.5 but getting spacers to get me back up a little.

Thanks

no it will pretty much be even with the lip. Here is a 305 35 24 (almost the same as a 305 45 22) and the drop i listed you can see sits pretty flush
