Pulled the fill hose off the tank…

Removed the twist and lock vent fittings…

Removed the foam isolation pads from the tank (so I can reuse them)…

IMG_2962.jpeg

And removed the plastic cover so I can hopefully reuse that as well. Unless of course it makes things too tight for me to get the new strap bolts caught(wink, wink)…

The strap bolts I wound up just shearing off with a set of boltcutters...

IMG_2968.jpeg

To the floor they went, with a little more weight reduction in the process...

After I got the strap bolts out and knocked the remainder of the rust off that cross member, well...let's just say here's one more nail in the coffin for this old girl.

But I put the new strap bolt nuts in anyway...

Got the new straps hung...

Vent line installed. I had to replace the O-rings to get them to seat properly on top of the tank. The old ones became brittle and unusable...

These next couple of pics were taken last week. The new tank has been installed for about (3) weeks now.
As you can see, I did forgo reinstalling the plastic cover for the tank. I could barely get the bolts started without the cover. I chalk it up to "nothing like the fit of OEM parts".
And nothing about these parts were OEM...

3 weeks of salt evident already....
