I have read some confusing information. I have read that the 2007-2009 have no AFM, I have also read that they do. Someone said the 6.0l does not have it, other say it does.
So, does the 2008 2500 with 6.0L have AFM or not, and how to I know?

I also read the 2008 2500 had a 4 speed, but I confirmed that not be be true just by putting the trans in M and I ran through 6 gears.

Thanks

No AFM on 2500's. They do not count in CAFE because of GVWR.

That is correct.

The 2007-2009 no AFM thing is the 6.2L engine in the half tons. My 2009 Denali has the L9H. AFM hardware is on the engine, but not active.

Scott, I think the confusion comes from the 6.0 used in the 1500s from 2007-2009, it used AFM and was called the L76.

The LY6 used from 2007-2009 used regular gas and the L96 used from 2010 and on is a FlexFuel engine, the basic difference is just a larger fuel pump and injectors.

The 2500 GMT900s had the 4L80 in 2007 and then went to the 6L90 from 2008 to 2013.

Question .. The L9H has AFM lifters ?

Good catch. L9H (6.2L), 1st year e85 and one year only (2009) in the Denali, Tahoe LTZ & Escalade. GM used it in trucks til 2013 and none of the L9H are equipped with AFM.

For some reason GM did install AFM in early build 07 L92 motors but the vehicles lacked the software to run it. The valve cover design used on the AFM engines beginning in 2010 are the telltale sign of this on the early 07 L92.
