ABS Module throws code C0265 - need to replace it?

New here, and our 2001 Tahoe has the infamous ABS and Brake light issue.

Couple months back took it to a place that said the codes indicated that the control module was bad. They quoted $1000 for parts and labor.

Edit - the ABS code is C0265.

After some searching on here, I see several folks have pulled their ABS and sent it off for repairs. Total cost is usually under $200 for the repair.

(This Tahoe has TC...which seems different than some.)

While I do not have a lift available, but I do have a good floor jack, a solid concrete driveway, two good 2 ton jack stands, and wheel chocks. So I am not afraid to try it myself.

Is this worth me trying to DYI? And are there newbie-like step by step instructions linked here somewhere?

Thank you!

Well the cheap code reader I have access to doesnt display any ABS codes. Just the generic P codes and none about the ABS.

But the ABS and Brake dash lights are on all the time. Shop said brakes are OK, just ABS control module is bad. Few weeks back the ABS pump started running all the time and I was advised to pull the fuse for it, so I did.

EDIT blah blah blah...I figured out how to get the code!

what codes is it displaying?

Well, I went to HF and bought the scan tool that is supposed to do ABS.

Had to do a lot of messing around, but FINALLY got it to give me an ABS code.

Here it is:

C0265 - Solenoid Valve Relay Circuit

Is that any help?

Thanks!

DIY repair

I did this my self about a year ago it works just take you're time.

I had to pull off all the hard lines and bleed the Brake system no big deal.

No mater what need to pull out the Module out might as well spend a little more time and fix it you're self and save you're self the money of buying a rebuilt one.
