I have a 2017 Yukon. Under what conditions should I drive in 2 Wheel mode vs Auto? Does Auto cause more wear and tear than 2 Wheel? What about when towing 4K lbs in the rain?

AUTO does cause more wear and tear than 2WD. this information appears in the owner's manual.
