    GM Floor Mats

Guess the first question would be: Why would you want to do that? Purchased Certified 2019 Suburban Premier and at the end of one winter's use, the carpet outside of the stock floormats was salt stained and worn. The stock mats were just not a useful size. Fortunately the full coverage Weather...

Finally Jumped on the Oil Catch Can Bandwagon

I'm on my second vehicle with the second Moroso catch can. Couldn't be happier--quality piece, quality materials and design. Suppose I could have bought one on Ebay for less or maybe even made one out of a couple of SOS pads, a 12 oz. PBR can and some duct tape and tie wraps. But I have found...

    High cost of livin' high

(Apologies to Jamie Johnson.) Sunday's Chicago Tribune had a story about the 2021 Escalade--"Ready for hands-free driving?" The last sentence of the article: "The 2021 Escalade 4WD Sport Premium I tested had a sticker price of $113,065."

    Bad News from Blackstone

I asked for advise, so I'd better listen to it. Just now emailed Blackstone asking them to disregard my most recent sample. I'll pull another one in a few days and get it off to them at that time.

Think possibility of inducing contamination would be minimal. Used clean stainless awl and no indication on filter itself of any transfer of materials.

    Bad News from Blackstone

O.P. again saying thanks to all. Was able to get latest sample mailed off to Blackstone today. Used Harley technique of just poking a hole in the top of the filter and letting it drain to get enough oil for the sample and to mitigate the mess in removing the filter. Results of filter teardown...

    Bad News from Blackstone

2013 Suburban LTZ 74,000 miles Here's the results from Blackstone Labs: "It looks like this engine may have developed a problem. Aluminum shows excess piston and/or bearing wear and chrome is from rings. Iron shows excess steel wear. Piston scuffing is a possibility, but it could be a bearing...

    Please help!! Distributor problems..

Once the truck is running, you do not need a sophisticated scan tool or pay a shop for their labor to set the final timing. All you need is some time and patience and a few simple items. First, make a pointer that will run from the distributor to the firewall. I used a yardstick. Put some...

    Timing problems.

You do not have to pay the dealer shop labor for the Tech 2 to set the timing if the engine is running, even if running poorly. If the timing, or cam retard is off, you should be getting a message on the DIC and a trouble code can be pulled with any low-tech scan tool. First, you need a...

    Is throttle body reprogramming necessary?

There is usually no need for reprograming--it will self-learn the new butterfly setting. Just drive it around for a while and all should sort itself out and will return to the normal idle speed.

Has anyone had the service center turn off the AFM?

That's all there is to it. Just remove from OBD port before arriving at dealership, stick it in your pocket, reinstall after service. All is good.

Has anyone had the service center turn off the AFM?

Some vehicles have a Security Light that is often on or blinking. I don't think the Range device would pull any more electrical power than such a factory installed item. If there are problems with that much power being pulled from the battery, I would suspect something other than the Range unit

Has anyone had the service center turn off the AFM?

I have had my Range unit plugged into my truck for the last eight months and have never experienced any type of electrical or battery drain problem--and it's seen some challenging weather conditions over that time span.
