XM Antenna Differences 2015 & 2015i?

I'd like to have the body colored XM antenna on my early 2015 Tahoe, so I bought one from a GM parts house. The part number comes up for a 2015 Tahoe (doesn't say early or late) but as you can see the plugs are different. The tan plug has always been the XM plug on all of my other GM vehicles, but the early antenna doesn't have one. So, I'm assuming that it runs directly through the 2 maroon cables.

Anyone know of a way to make this work? Where is the XM module in the vehicle?

The xm module is behind the glove box with the HMI.

I was wanting to do this with my Escalade as well. Didn't realize it wasn't plug and play...

Mind sharing how much you paid for the painted antennae and where you got it?

My 16 platinum is black so I didn't notice anything different about the antenna.

Ok, I'll have to look again. I looked at the HMI, but the only thing I saw was the GPS antenna plug. Is the XM module part of the HMI, Or a separate box?

Yeah, I didn't realize it either. I have found some adapters and a 10' extension cable to run the antenna wire to where the XM module is once I find it. All in all about $25 worth of adapters.

I got the antenna from London Auto Sales on eBay, but you can find them on gmpartsdirect.com.

So I went out and looked at mine, it is painted black same as my truck.

You guys are lucky with the new models that the factory started color matching the antenna. Means you can go buy one that's already colored to your car lol. The little shark fin antenna on my 2006 is black plastic and i hate non color matched trim. Its so cheap looking. So that means I have to take the Damn thing off and take it to the body shop to have it color matched. And he won't do that small of a project by itself so I have to wait til I have my esky third taillight in hand that will need to be color matched to have my antenna done haha. I'd love to be able to just buy one already color matched with factory paint like you guys haha.

So this is probably gonna sound like a dumb question but I'll ask anyways since we are on the topic of the antenna! Haha. None of my other vehicles were this high tech so im still learning things. So when I unplug my shark fin to have it color matched, is onstar gonna think my truck is being boosted and send police to my,house because I unplugged the antenna and took it off?! Cuz that would be really awkward haha. Just wanna make sure when I take the antenna off to have it painted ***** not gonna go bananas on me haha.

Onstar will not thing the truck is being stolen. I think they had to redesign the antenna because in the past, certain paints on the antenna would interrupt the signals coming to / from and reduce the reception. 2015i + is body color. 2015 is not.

I mean I don't pay for it anyways and haven't since I bought the truck. But I just thought I'd ask haha. I hate the look of non painted trim so that sucker is getting painted.
