Hey guys, getting ready to purchase some new wheels and tires for summer use. Right now I am looking at Nitto's NT420S and American racing AR914's. What I can't decide on is should I go with 20's or 22's for this new set. My current 15 Yukon is stock with the 20's, so I am leaning that way. Will it really matter between theses 2 sizes other than looks and cost? Any experience going from 20's to 22's and did it ride that much different? Thanks for any input,

On my previous vehicles I didn’t notice a difference in ride with 20s or 22s. The wifey used to have a Ford Edge sport that came with 22s out of the factory. I personally think for the size of our suvs the 22s will look way better. Also I just bought some 22” niche with the latest nittos...... take a look at the nitto 421 it has an awesome warranty

Thanks for the info, I currently run the 421Q on my trailblazer and really like them however there seems to be more sizes available in the 420S, I will check the cost differential for the 22's

The ride on these 22’s is horrific. I had to special order mine to get 20’s.

Go drive one with 22’s and you’ll see the difference.

As you can see, some say horrific some say they didn’t feel any difference. You know how 20s ride see if you can find a way to test drive one with 22s. It’ll be the only way you’ll truly know what kind of difference there is.

I personally could never tell the difference between a factory 20 setup (275/55/20) and a factory 22 setup (285/45/22). Both ride the exact same to me.

Depends on the tire.get a good 285/55/22

I guess with a ton of sidewall a 22” may be bearable. Anything even resembling low profile is terrible. Add MRC to the mix and things go downhill quickly.

The tire sizes I was going to go with are larger than the stock 275/55/20. If I stay with 20's I'm going with a 305/50/20 and If I decide to go with the 22's the tire I was looking at is a 305/45/22, thanks for the additional info,

I run 305/45 22 on mine and love the ride. I also have an Avalanche with factory 20's, and while the ride on the Yukon is slightly stiffer, I prefer it. It is definitely not harsh at all. The ride in my Infiniti on 35 series 20's is a different story lol
