Pretty sharp. Even the rims are a little different.

I have a set 22" U2-55s that were basically free. I'm pretty sure I'm going to powder coat them and throw them on. I'm somewhat undecided. Being a 4x4 I'm not sure I like those wheels. Also I am not sure what color to powder them? Any suggestions?

I had them blasted a few months ago. I still need to do some grinding and sanding before powder.

Either black or a color to match the truck

Yeah I'm not feeling the black. I want something different. I'm probably going to stop by the powder coater tomorrow and look at some color samples.

Just curious, what does it cost to powder coat rims in your neck of the woods?

$150 to blast and $150 to coat. I gave my powder coater some left over steel from work. I'm hoping he will coat them for free!

Seems so complicated. I thought it acted the same as a radio antenna. The longer, the better the reception.

The reason for the idea that "The longer, the better the reception." is that most antennas put on consumer electronics are too short for the frequency they operate on.

Basically, the higher the frequency, the shorter the wavelength of the radio wave.
People don't like to see antennas, and in many applications there isn't room for a full size antenna.

If you have ever shopped for a CB antenna, you will have heard of 5/8 (five eights) wave antennas (like the K40 (5/8 wave) base loaded CB antenna. Where ever they are loaded just means they have a coil of wire to make the antenna shorter.), 1/4 (quarter) wave, and so on.
The big 102" whip is a 1/4 wave antenna for CB.

Tuning the antenna just means they adjust the length of the antenna so it has the lowest SWR ratio at the frequency that it will be used at.
SWR basically measures how much of the power (watts) your transmitter (a CB in this case) is sending to the antenna is being reflected back to the transmitter.

You want as close as a 1:1 match as you can get, so as much power as possible is being radiated by the antenna instead of being reflected back to the radio and heating it up (this is bad).

Other things can affect SWR like the length of the coax and where and how the antenna is being mounted.

For receiving, close is "good enough".

If you are interested in more technical information on SWR, this Wikipedia has more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standing_wave_ratio

My exact thoughts! I even tossed around the idea of gun metal or silver.

I think these colors will work great. No black. Will detract from that color IMO.
