I removed the factory running board just to see how it would look. What do y’all think? Do you prefer with or without?

Did you gain any clearance? On thecopcar I looked at this, but the bottom of the running boards is even with the bottom side of the frame.
Definitely gained at least an inch or so of clearance. The side frame does extend slightly lower than the painted body but the running boards extended well below the side frame.

I like that look without them a lot. If I didn't use mine so much in the snow or mud to kick crap off my boots, I'd remove them.

I removed mine and installed RBP retractable boards this past weekend. They fold almost outta sight and work awesome. Ill post some pics when I get home. SUPER easy install. AND they were one sale for $895 shipped.

Very excited to see your photos and hear about the install process. That looks like a great alternative to more expensive automatic running boards. I might go ahead and order a set of these as well

Looks they are actually sold out currently for the Tahoe. They only have the XL/suburban in stock. Hopefully the restock while they are still at this price. I will definitely pick some up if I can get them at this price. Thanks for the share

I just used painters tape to make a straight line and then trimmed the factory valance with a dremmel. Pretty quick and easy. Then just sanded it smooth at the end

Did you end up leaving the running boards off? I am considering doing the same thing and just wanted to get your opinion after several months

I ran it with no running boards for over a year but my wife hated climbing in and out with the level and bigger tires. When she was pregnant I ended up adding some aftermarket aluminum steps. I have had them on for quite a while and they hold up much better than the factory plastic steps that end up scratched and faded. I will try to upload a few pics later

How was it removing the running boards? Do you remember how many bolts there were and what size?
