I went with them as well.....In the past, I would have said never get an extended warranty. However, with all the random issues I and others have been encountering, especially with the 6.2s, I say it's a worthwhile investment.
I went with James Black Caddy in PA. Speak with Allen Black - he was no hassle and ended up giving me the best price on a 72/72/100
Other than spam calls, not a “normal” trend to try and sell extended warranties other than when vehicle is being sold thru the dealer. More and more dealers are creating their own warranty companies and unless the vehicle is going thru an inspection or some sort they don’t want to risk the payout.Anyone buy a plan AFTER the 3/36 ran out? Mine ended in October 2025. Kind of surprised I didnt get any sales pitch in the mail, to buy extended.
I don't think you can get a GM plan after the 3/36 runs out. There are some exceptions if you bought a GM certified used vehicle.Anyone buy a plan AFTER the 3/36 ran out? Mine ended in October 2025. Kind of surprised I didnt get any sales pitch in the mail, to buy extended.

The 10/150 is only for parts affected by the recall, not the entire engine. It starts with the in-service date, not the date the engine was replaced.Well….I’m in the shop getting a new 6.2 engine, so I am automatically getting a 10yr 150K on the engine ( might be 15yr) Not sure I would bother paying for an extended warranty, now, for other issues. May as well take my chances on other parts failures.
You could say the same thing for health or auto/home insurance as well then. I extended the warranty on my certified 2019 Yukon for about $1800 for 4 years. Even if I got 10% interest on that $1800 for those 4 years, it wouldn't come close to covering a major repair. It was just peace of mind for me. Your results may vary.....I angsted over this when I got my new Tahoe HC in 2024 and ran the numbers.
I agree that these new vehicles are subject to high repair costs outside of warranty and it is smart to have a plan to cover the costs.
The GMPP is probably the best and the numbers for Platinum with 0 deductible and the most time and mileage is around $3500 when I got my pricing.
About a year and a half ago I decided to put $5k in a free Schwab account and bought a few individual stocks. I was also thinking of doing an index fund but some stocks were very cheap and they don’t cost anything to buy or sell just like the index funds.
If I need repairs I can just sell some and if not I get to keep all my money.
Isn’t this exactly what the warranty and insurance companies do?
I don’t think I am smarter than they are so why buy any extended warranty?
"Endurance" saved my bacon when 6.2L blew up w48K, then78K. First time GM handled, but then Endurance" handled ( bought at GM Dealer but online too) under their $3000 plan. ( save every oil receipt!) 5 years goes fast! Get a warranty if ya keep it! CanThe only time I've purchased an extended warranty was from the dealer at the time of the purchase (a previous vehicle, not a GM)
I am currently looking for a 2025 HC or Premier and I am curious about extended warranty options.
Is there a recommended 3rd party warranty company that people on here recommend or am I better of getting an extended warranty from the dealer?
I know I'm covered to 60k from the year and I see that chevy offers powertrain, silver and platinum, but when I try to get more info on pricing for those plan options, it asks me to select a dealer and when I attempt to do that, I only get options to view inventory, schedule an appointment, etc...everything but pricing details. Regardless, that's one of the things I'll ask about as that will add to the total price of the vehicle.
However, that's why I'm here, I'm trying to see if there are other/better options vs going though the dealer.
Thanks.
Yes!! SAVE EVERY OIL RECEIPT!! IT MATTERS!!!Fyi to anyone buying extended warranties, just had a friend get denied coverage (I think aftermarket warranty and also non-GM vehicle) for a head gasket failure because an oil change 4yrs ago was done 1000 miles too late.
Health insurance is a lot different and not remotely comparable! You could say the same thing for health or auto/home insurance as well then.
