Iv got an 07 Tahoe LT. Did some searches and can not find the same issue I am having at the time. So I have been kind of chasing this door latching issue since I bought this Tahoe a couple months ago.
First I had an issue with the driver rear door not opening from the outside. So I was able to pull the panel off and then open it with working the door lock actuator by hand and then adjusting the door handle rod so that the door opened freely. Everything seems to be fine, for now.
Then with this being one of the main issues, my front driver door does not disengage all the way when I open it from the inside. I have to open from the inside, then pull the handle on the outside for the door to latch shut, EACH AND EVERY TIME. This is something I kind of already got used to and was going to work on replacing parts as I could, starting with the actuator since I felt that would be a good start with that being the part that got stuck or w/e it was doing not letting the latch disengage to shut the door after opening form the inside.
The other day, I have found that the front passenger side door did not open from the inside or outside. So when I installed my new speakers the other day I was able to pry the panel off some and get it open enough to get my hand in there and mess with the inside door latch cable and outside door latch rod and it opened. After spraying some PB blaster in the latch I tested the door from the inside and outside and it seems ok for now.
Now, today my wife takes the Tahoe and the driver side door is not opening from the inside or outside handle. She was able to keep pulling on both the handles and then it mysteriously opened. One of the times getting out she said she had to crawl through the other side.
As I was replacing the speakers in all four doors the other day I did see that one of the inside door latches was broken. The fixed piece that the cable housing snaps to and holds tension on the housing while the cable slides through hosing. If that makes any sense. I for sure need to replace that handle but that still does not solve the problem of the outside not opening the doors as well.
This is starting to get on my nerves and I am looking at replacing all associated parts in each door to just be done with it. After pricing things online I have found that each door with be around $150 so after its all said and done I will be out $600 for parts. Not really wanting to throw that much money into this right now, Iv got other plans. The majority of the money is the actuator ($80each) so if I can find some help with this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the long post.
