Based on your experience, would you buy a used 2008 Yukon Hybrid with 95,000 miles.

Any issues that this year had.

I am new to the forum and in the market for a Yukon/Tahoe. I sold my suburban a few years ago and miss it. I dont need all the space anymore so a yukon would fit me gtreat.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would stay away from the 08s if I were you, they were the first year in production and had a lot more issues than the trucks that came out in the following years.

There's a lot of info on this forum: http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f69/

That's obviously not to say that there are no good 08s, nor does it mean that the following years are guaranteed to be trouble free, but in my observation and experience your odds vastly improve from 09 forward.

I have an '08 and haven't experienced any issues in the past 1.5 years since I bought it. There are some good ones out there...mine was previously owned by a Kellogg's exec's wife and had around 24k on it.

Did not want to start a whole new thread so figured Id ask on this thread.

Keeping in mind I have zero Hybrid experience. Im more into them due to their looks then performance.

So how many millage are hybrids good for? When should you stay away and what should you look for on used Tahoe to ensure everything is good?

I honestly urge you to ask the question on the greenhybrid forum I linked above. Very few hybrids here and even fewer high mileage ones. Whereas there, there are many threads on what are the common issues to look out for and many folks with high mileage hybrids to advise you.

I sold mine when it had less than 30K miles, and the only issue I had was a replaced throttle body under warranty ... but it was too new for major issues to manifest.

Just for the record, I test drove a used 08 Tahoe Hybrid this last weekend with 167,000 miles on it. It appeared and drove just like a 40,000 mile one, was showing great economy on the gauge. My only concerns were it didn't use the battery to start or the engine shut off at stop signs until after having driven 10 miles or so, and the transmission was slow shifting from 2-3rd. Anybody know if any of these are normal for a Hybrid?

The slow shift is somewhat normal depending upon how heavy the throttle was being applied. I would ask how long the hybrid sat on the lot before your test drive. If it sat for a long time it is possible the battery didn't have a charge. After driving for a while, the battery would charge up.

The only other thing I would caution you on is the expiration of the Battery warranty. These trucks have an 8yr/100k warranty to cover the battery but since you are at 167k, that warranty expired.

I'm also driving 08 Tahoe Hybrid, only about 52K miles on it so far (bought 19K miles from NY dealer demo).

Only 3 things annoying me:
1. no Bluetooth (hard to modify)
2. no spare tire (and space under the car)
3. GPS map update is joke

Cheers,

1. Vcim swap, parrot, etc.
2. Remove the second res and order a spare kit from GM
3. Completely agree.
