BILSTEIN or BELLTECH

2004 YUKON SLT, 128K miles and still running on my original shocks, ....... Time to change.

Question however is, which brand to get, BILSTEIN 5100's or BELLTECH'S.

Talked to NORCAL SS (Tony), who advises that the BILSTEINS will be stiffer than the BELLTECH's. I am running at stock heigth and the truck is the family rig, mostly driven on pavement.

I want a comfy ride, but not too soft.

Any thoughts guys, what shocks do you run, which brand would you get?

I ran the beltech street performance on my blazer and they rode super stiff. I had spindle drop and rear blocks (both of which keep the factory shock lengths). I did not think they were worth the money I paid for them. I ran beltech 5100 on my lifted application and thought they rode great. I know I will be running bilstein 4600 on mine if I choose to keep it.

This is going to be completely dependent on the driver and how each person likes their ride. I've never had the Bilstein's but have heard really great things about them (other than being $$$). With that said, I'm running Belltech on all 4 corners and have been very happy with them. The ride is great and not stiff at all. I haven't noticed it being overly soft either so they're perfect for us.

I do believe you meant to say that you ran BILSTEIN 5100 on your lifted application, not BELLTECH. Correct?

Couldn't agree more on it being an opinionative subject. Maybe I had a bad experience as many enjoy the belltech shocks.

It's probably just a difference in how you like your ride. It seems to be a 50/50 shot on who likes them and who doesn't. It's just the everyone likes their ride to handle differently and has different preferences.

Belltech are as good as OE if not slightly softer than OE .

They feel softer because they are a low pressure design. Lower than OE.

I have played around with them all.

Bilstein Bell tech OE blue OE red

Also 5100 and 4600 are two different animals.

Any more questions pm me...... TYF is too cluttered with shock and muffler advice anyway

HAs anyone used the Edelbrock shocks. I ran acroos an add for them for around $75 each. I liked the set that I installed on my '84 Hurst Olds, just wondering if the SUV shocks are any good.

Yea, but are the Edelbrock versions better is my question? Edelbrock generally makes decent products.

They are discontinued I think.

I have seen some posts where they do not last very long.

I personally would not get them
