Just go to your local muffler shop and have them install a Magnaflow muffler, you don't need the entire cat back system.

+1 on not needing entire cat back, just replace the muffler.

Are you guys saying the piping doesn't make a difference? BTW, does anyone know what size the stock pipes are?

I have the catback and also love it. That being said, I do not see any advantage to having the catback and just having a muffler shop weld in the same muffler and stainless tip. The pipe is the same for both the stock and catback as far as I remember.
The only reason I bought the catback was because Amazon was having a killer sale a couple of years ago. I think I paid just a bit over $300 shipped. :)
If I had to pay closer to retail, I would have just bought the muffler.

Do mandrel bends not matter with these engines?

Depends what your comparing them to. The pipes on our rides are pretty good right out of the factory. Your just not going to gain much at all by replacing it.

I do. What year is your truck? I have an 08 5.3L. I did the magnaflow cat back and K&N intake. Together around 20-25 HP. The sound is great. The tip is different, it's oval and has the Magnaflow logo on it. I'll have to get a pic or you.
