(Another) Rims/Tires Advice Thread

**FIRST THREAD** My bad for starting a thread over a repeated issue, but I really need some legit advice...from many ppl
FINALLY found a set of BOSS 311 22" chromes to put on the Renali (same as the flattened Esky). craigslist/lightly used/no scuffs/wrapped in Falkens (>50% tred left) 1 hour from home for $800. Not bad...I drive this weekend to pick them up. It should end looking something like this...

I think it was goozdenali & Tribalbreak discussing tire size on 22". Now, the Esky had the 305/45/r22 Hankook Ventus tires which were awesome. Very little road noise @ high speeds and offered reasonable comfort considering how much LESS rubber you have absorbing bumps, but also turned well. These rims require the same tire size, but I can't step up to the Hankooks with all the crap I want to do/been doing since I joined the forum.

So, I guess I have two questions...
1. In the size 305/45/r22, what tires would you guys recommend (brand/model) thats not going to sacrifice quality & NOT make me liquidate my IRA?
2. The Esky had I think Nickel Plates Spline lugs which looked pretty sharp...curious as to what lugs you guy use/suggest? Thanks for your input...

i had Falken > STZ 04 great tires they say they are good for 50 k i put 10 on them and still look brand new. sold the rims and tires. i had toyo also and got 40-45 out of them on my 23's

Got the rims in...spline lugs...all I need are tires.

cant decide btw 305 or 285 /45 r22....hankook or duelers, maybe

well 305/45/22 is a 33 inch tire, not a 31. oem size is 305/40/22.

I had nexen roadians in 305/45/22, they were actually really good.

good suggestion...the price is right too! let me ask you, does the fact the tread goes only one direction (ie "V" shape) affect the ability to rotate the tires? also, how was the ride?

Ride was good, about the same as my OEM 20s.

Directional means you rotate front to back not criss cross
(unless you are going to remount & rebalance... I wouldn't)

Wet traction is beyond good. I could NOT spin the tires, I could not hydroplane.

i had nexens before they were not bad for the price. but sucked during snow. i know i know...

they were not bad in the 'dusting' / slush that accumulated here. I could see them being terrible in the snow however. 12" wide and summer tires, that's a given.
