Ok, so lately my blower motor has not been working. I can hear a realy click when I change the speed setting on the dash but nothing.....until I kick the motor cover then it usually works again. Sounds like a bad motor right? Times wise how long to swap the motor out and does any one have a part number?

Thanks

Have you check the harness cause mine was doing the same and i also just kicked it and it would come on until i figure out that by moving the harness it will turn on?

Check the harness first right where it plugs into the blower motor. Sometimes the plug will get hot from the high current draw and start to deform and become loose after time. I'd say it's either the plug or the blower motor.

I am going to replace the motor. It just needs a good smack to get started, never turns off while I am in the truck that I recall. I checked the plugs and so on and they seem ok. New motor is like $65 at NAPA. Anyone changed one? Is it a *****?

I changed the motor in my '94 pretty recently. It was a pain. I have the older dash though, I hope for your sake that it will be easier with a newer dash. I had to remove the glove box, then the PCM and mount in order to be able to get the rubber insulation off so I could unbolt the motor. So make sure to set aside plenty of time to do the repair as if you need to pull the PCM like I did the truck is obviously not driveable. That's not the worst part though. What's worse is the blower motor is about an inch short of clearing the metal bracing in the dash. It's so close but I needed to pull most of the bolts holding the dash in and pry that corner of the dash out in order to get enough clearance. Good luck.

If it needs a good smack and it runs its the blower motor resistor. Try that man. If you do change the motor its easy as hell, just squeezing underneath the passenger side is sucky.

Taking out the glove box is necessary, very easy to do.

Once you get under there and get the insulated cover off, youll see it wont be that hard, but space is a premium.

Put the new motor and resistor in today. What a ***** that was. Took a little over an hour in the freezing cold and snow. Works much better now. If you need to do this find a friend with little tiny hands to help. Not a bad job but like Tim Z said...space...not much of it.

Easy job. Pull the glove box off and the blower cover and the parts are right there. Total cost $80. Very straight forward job
