285 to 265

i dont know much, if anything about wheels, tires. hoping for a conclusive answer.
i have a set of 20" rims i bought last year. tires were questionable at best.
i dont know the exact width. but they have 285-50-20 on them.
can i go to a 255-50-20
or a 275-45-20
without issues?

265/50 or 275/50 will be fine unless the width and offset of your wheels is odd

275/45/20 is like a 30" tire... Would look goofy on a Tahoe IMO

Your best bet is 285/50/20 or 275/55/20

Like stated above^^ a 275/55/20 is a factory tire size and would work out just fine

I ended up finding a set of 275/55 that only had about 15000 on them. i like the ride allot better than the 285's i had.
