Any major problems?
When can I see them arise?

Thank you.

What u mean eat themselves and approx miles

From what I've read, the front differentials are not heavy duty, and after 100k miles or so, the bearings and gears start wearing out and need to be replaced, meaning the front diff needs to be rebuilt.

Humming, whirring, roaring, anything that might be constant, vary with speed, and originate in the front of the truck.

Do you have AWD or 4x4? AWD is susceptible to this since the front diff is ALWAYS spinning. 4x4, not so much.

AWD. And with some 26inch rims, pretty sweet. So should I just fluid for now I guess until some happens or save up for new front diff. Do they make a stronger one drops in place

Thanks

From what I have read, the front diff issues are typically the "carrier" bearings and there is a video on youtube of how to fix them. Its a fairly in depth job, but not impossible.

I have a high mileage '06 denali xl. i have the whining sound at slow speeds, only with the gas pedal applied. Again, from what I have read, the carrier bearing wears and when you apply some gas, it causes the carrier bearing to make some noise. draining the front diff often should alert you to if the issue is happening, but if you don't have any noise, don't worry about it.

apparently the carrier bearing comes loose or something because a retainer tab breaks inside the diff. you asked if they make stronger diffs. i do not believe its the diff gears or even the carrier bearing. i think it came down to these retainer tabs breaking. and i believe there are upgraded retainers for the rebuild to solve the issue permanently.

my current plan is to buy a trashed one, rebuild it on my bench, then swap it out on a weekend. cheers.

only video i have found on this subject:
