First of all, I got out of school and the Tahoe wouldn't start. It was just shot. Which is weird, because it has a month-old Optima Yellowtop battery. I took it by an auto parts store and they found my battery and alternator to be good, however there is a 37-amp draw running on the vehicle that drained it over the school day. Any thoughts?

Also, the liftgate button on the overhead panel doesn't illuminate. It works, but just doesn't light up. Suggestions?

Thanks guys.

I have no idea what it could be! I wonder if it somehow fits the recall for the ones that had computers staying on after turning the truck off. But then again those are only 2007's if I remember right,

I dont know how the lift gate panel works on yours but is it possible that the bulb just burned out? You hear anything whirring or humming after you turn your truck off and let it sit for a few? Might be worth a shot to find whats draining your battery

It's definitely worth that shot but I listened and didn't hear anything at all. I guess the dealer will have to look at for me.

Sure your just not having that notorious battery rundown issue that requires reflashing/reprogramming the ECM?

I'm kinda hoping so, that way the dealers will fix it. But like I said, I thought that was only for 07 models?

So any update? Curious if the dealer found anything as many seem to be having this random battery discharge issue...

37 AMP DRAW!?!? wow, it sounds like you have a serious short some where! are you sure it wasnt a 3.7 amp draw?

Check any aftermarket equipment you may have...i.e. stereos, head units, amps

I don't think people are reading the other posts regarding this same problem. There is a technical service bulletin for this so take it into the dealer to make sure your truck has had this done. Also you should be under warranty still unless it is high mileage vehicle.

I HAVE read the other posts about it, the recall is for 2007 models which mine clearly does NOT fall under since it's a 2008.

As for whoever asked about any updates on my situation - no. It hasn't died lately so I haven't taken it to the dealer. I don't see the need to.

My draw down problem on my 08 Denali was a pinched wire in the RR door that was freaking out some module and resettign all my HVAC and radio settings. It would drain the battery in no time.

Since it has been fixed, knock on wood, no problems.

That's good. If mine drains again then I will take it by the dealer. This issue seemed to coincide with the liftgate button right after I installed my LED interior lights...but they shouldn't draw 37 amps right??

The TSB includes 2008 models so check with dealer. BTW I was not calling you out, it just seems like people are having similar issues (not just electrical) and asking the same questions without looking at recent posts.

However, if you think it is related to your recent install then you should troubleshoot that first. Yeah 30+ amperage draw for lights is a lot.

Oh okay. You were the first to inform me that 2008 is under the recall, which is a good piece of info haha so thanks. Just excuse my posts like that, I have my bad days.

This statement is beyond true, understand this is a forum but come on, some on here just sit and ask questions w/o looking, or contributing to anything!!
Not calling anyone out, just saying, now back to the topic......:party33:

even though it hasn't happened lately, if it's got a recall or update allowable, get it done. It will happen again at the worst time if you wait.

Good luck.
