Yea I get it I guess I just have never smelled it that much under what I feel like is normalish driving. I’ll see if it does it again this weekend.
The info I read on the trans adapt is it would prompt me to perform certain tasks and you would hear the trans go through some tests and make...
Well late update but I ended up buying all new pads and rotors and swapped them a couple of months ago with no ill effects or noise, until this weekend. Now they are starting to produce a burning smell when used a bunch. I was trying to heat up the trans to complete a trans adapt reset...
So I know its been a while but work and life have been extremely busy. @NickTransmissions Finally tried to take advantage of a warmer day of 72 and got the tranny temp up and hooked up the Tech2 to try and watch some things but honestly, I could not figure out what screens to watch in order to...
So I took 3 stabs at it back in September and still couldn’t get it hot enough. Every free chance I had it was a cooler day believe it or not it would not stay hot! Then I started working days, nights and weekends and with 5 kids at home including a 8 month old, I don’t have a lot of free time...
Well any other suggestions? Now that’s it’s been cold out I cannot get and keep the trans above 158 degrees. I drove it to VA and back and it was around 123 on the highway and it would go up to 165 in traffic but cool off and then every time I park it, it just cools off lol. I just want to try...
We’ll now I’m stumped. I drove the trucks two days and they seemed ok but then once I drove it and they got used more and got hotter, they squeal like crazy. So I took it to a Midas that get great reviews because I needed the tires rebalance and rotated and he said I had the pads in the wrong...
Yea I don’t understand what else it could be. Unless my break in procedure glazed the pads? I need to get the tired balanced so I guess I’ll have them take a look. I could try and use sand paper and rough up the pads and rotor? They are new though so I don’t get it.
We’ll I just did the passenger side to start and I took the pads out, caliper bolts and regreased everything. I put some grease on the back of the pads and put everything back together. AND once it got hot, it’s now much worse! It’s squealing worse and it starts to smell again. I have no idea...
That’s what I was thinking would be next. Rock auto had GM ones pretty cheap. I have 98k miles on the truck.
I’m going try and take them off and go through everything again and I’ll try the brake geese as mentioned above.
Brand was Centric. Used for many years on many vehicles with good results.
Evening All,
So 2 weeks ago I replaced the front rotors and pads due to wear and vibration while stopping. I installed new premium centric rotors and posi quiet ceramics pads. I removed caliper sliding pins, wipes off and greased them with sly glide, applied it to the brake pads tabs and...
@NickTransmissions
Sorry for the delay but family stuff and work were crazy and I was not really driving the truck much until recently when kid activities started back up. In doing so, the 3-2 downshift and sometimes 2-3 shift are still not great. Mostly still just the downshift. All other...
So it has been a while but I do not drive the truck very often so hence the late response. Anyway, bought new oil, filter, oil cooler gasket and RTV to try and see what was going on with my leak. Well, I ended up having to rush the oil change due to family stuff and my leak seems to have...
@NickTransmissions thanks for your quick response and information! Where are you located by the way? So to respond in order:
-No check engine lights or codes according to a scan with the GM Tech2.
1. Adapts (or lack thereof) resulting from either mechanical issues, programming changes -- a...
@NickTransmissions Hey Nick! I have been seeing you getting really active here and I am relatively new as well and trying to contribute but my current job and 5 kids keep me busy. I was hoping to maybe get your opinion on my situation which I will summarize below so you do not have to read...
I’m going to have to do the fronts on my 2011 with 97k as well. Pads are 4mm but I’m getting some pulsating now. I have always had good luck with Centric rotors and posi quiet pads and thinking of trying that but the size of this truck makes me think I need something a little stronger...
There seems to be conflicting opinions of the valve body. I am trying to decide if I should try and re-build it myself or just buy the remanufactured one from Sonnax at Rockauto but I definitely want to move forward soon.
I am leaning towards just doing the Sonnax valve body, rebuild the TECHM...
Hah! Good to know. Ya never know going to Philly what your gonna get but this was a good experience and I would go back! He didn’t negotiate hard and helped load, etc. The more the I think about I do maybe remember seeing stacked lumber over a white chain link fence.
Do you live close to Philly?
Did you do the slight bending of the exhaust to get the pan off and out? I’m mustering up the strength to try and do the valve body and rebuild the TECHM.
So in my research of the transmission and valve body I found the Sonnax article found below regarding an added 8th checkball into the valve bodies starting 2014 due to customer complaints of a rough shift from 2nd to 1st. Wondering if this would also help my 3-2 gear? I was going to contact...
Unfortunately I don’t know the history of the car but the fluid was red before I changed it!
I have been driving the truck a little bit more and all upshifts are ok except I get a little flare from I think 3-4 and then the rough down shifts. I’m definitely leaning towards trying the Sonnax...
