    Personalizing my PPV

You are absolutely correct. I mentioned this engine to some older chev guys and they got all wierd because they assumed I was referring to the ZL1 hahahaha! The LZ1 is a mash up of a few different engines. It has the TBSS intake, LS2 block and heads, DOD/AFM and VVT. I wont be mentioning this...

    Personalizing my PPV

I am fairly certain that it is/was only acdelco rotors that had the hat holes. The rotors I replaced had the holes so I wanted to replace them with the same part which is what led me to the acdelcos

As far as I can tell the holy hat is PPV only. The part did come up as PPV option when i was ordering them. Dont recall if these were year specific either but I was looking for 2014.

265/65R17 opens up a large variety of tires versus the 265/60R17 without being a vastly different size. Speedo will be close enough that it shouldnt be an issue either. Good suggestion :)

    Personalizing my PPV

I only managed to get the fronts done before biting wind forced me back inside. While i might have been able to turn the rotors down and get rid of the cracks I feel better just replacing them. I live in a part of the world where moose like to prance out into traffic and every inch of braking...

    Personalizing my PPV

The 265/60R17 tires have very low tread so I "borrowed" the 20" alloy rims with 275/55R20 Michellins from my silverado to ride around on. Speedo is way off lol and it has a pretty harsh ride as these tires have very little sidewall. I have to decide on what rims I will use; 17 steelies, 17...

When in for the oil change I had the guys give Heidi a good look underneath. Extensive heat cracks in the front rotors and thin pads on all four corners suggest her 88,000 kms werent gentle. I have new acdelco vented ppv rotors and ceramic pads which will probably go on tomorrow as frostbite...

    Personalizing my PPV

At the time I purchased the donor 2010 hybrid, I was unaware the 6.0L engine in it is/was an LY6 all aluminum engine. Aluminum block and heads and a VVT cam. The more I cannibalize it the more I am thinking of putting it back on the road... OR swap the LY6 into the PPV... or swap the LY6 into my...

    Personalizing my PPV

Sorry for the long downtime, its been cold, and that pesky work stuff getting in the way... I have been trying to swap over door panels, trim, seats etc but had many delays as it was so cold out the door mounting points kept breaking. I have repaired the broken plastic mounting tabs and got all...

Intermittent lifter tick on cold start

The noise you describe could possibly be a broken exhaust bolt, been know to happen with our Tahoes and I have at least one waiting for me to deal with.

    Any AFM indication without DIC?

Next time you are out driving in a product with AFM watch the tach when it switches in and out of V4 mode. I have seen a subtle but consistant minor rpm change in 4 different V8 equiped vehicles from two different manufacturers, GM and Chr***** (trying to not use a bad word here...)

    Any AFM indication without DIC?

Not a huge rpm jump, 100ish, computer controlled/drive-by-wire can make that happen. Its barely discernible and you have to be watching for it.

    Any AFM indication without DIC?

The rpms also go up a bit when switching into V4 mode as it needs a bit more 'uhmf' to maintain speed with fewer 'live' cylinders

With temps dipping sub -30 for a few weeks and work I havent been able to do anything with Heidi... until today! I snagged a 2010 Tahoe hybrid that had a mechanical problem the owner was unable to resolve so I picked it up partially disassembled. I am planning on swapping the leather interior...

Swap rear 3.08 gears for 3.42

As suggested, I have wandered over to the PPV specific section. I greatly appreciate all the responses and suggestions. A scanner, tuning device, Tech2 are all in the works. :)

So I waited until it got above -20C (thats -4F for our southern friends) to re-install these two pieces. (are they called "sails" or something?)

Swap rear 3.08 gears for 3.42

The plan was to change to 3.42 but with a larger tire (275/55R20 vs 265/60R17) which would leave the overall combo within 2.5% of each other. Computer wouldnt even notice

Swap rear 3.08 gears for 3.42

Thanks to all :) I talked with a young but gifted gearhead about what i wanted to do and he went on about unsprung weight in great detail. Apparently the steelies and tires originally equipped on the PPV offer an excellent combination of traction and handling characteristics that swapping to 20...

    Personalizing my PPV

So I have also purchased a PPV Tahoe, a 2014 model with 88,000 km (now) on it and I will be pursuing 4 categories to make it my daily (in no particular order); 1) suspension, 2) drivetrain, 3) interior, and 4) exterior. Today I decided to try out a color, GM color dark cherry metallic. I pulled...

Swap rear 3.08 gears for 3.42

GM website regarding the PPV Tahoes says that the outfitter reprogramed the transmission to shift at higher rpms than stock. I havent put many miles on it yet and havent had an opportunity to stretch its legs yet

Swap rear 3.08 gears for 3.42

The 6L80 first gear is 4.03, combined with the rear gears of 3.08 and a relatively small tire makes for decent acceleration.

Swap rear 3.08 gears for 3.42

The tires used by law enforcement people are winter rated uhp tires sized 265/60R17. Also, according to a large GM service center, the PPV tahoe's computer is locked and they can't make any changes so going the civilian tire size would through off the speedomter at the least. Swapping the gears...

Swap rear 3.08 gears for 3.42

Hello all, I just picked up my PPV. It has smaller tires than the civilian models and I have a set of 275/55R20 michellin defenders to replace them. To keep the computer happy and maintain an accurate speedo I would need to change the 3.08 gears to 3.42. Question is should I purchased a new gear...
