Passenger Seat Frame Removal & Replacement

Aloha All! I would like to get your insights, opinions and knowledge on removing & replacing the passenger seat frame on a 2012 GMC Yukon SLE 5.3L. The up/down motor is shot and looking at all the YouTube videos it just seems logical, and easier, to just replace the whole kit & kaboodle. The...

    99 tahoe electrical gremlins

I had a 1999 Tahoe SLT 5.7L before I purchased my 2012 Yukon SLE. The 1999 had electrical problems like the rear wiper and the drivers door console worked intermittently. The problem was the OEM connections were weak. After I resoldered them they worked fine. The connections from the factory...

    Floor Jack Recommendations

That’s the corporate motto, “Throw it away and buy another one.” It’s worthwhile to keep an eye out for the old ones. Back then they were made to last. And they do. I repaired a friend’s hydraulic press that was made in the 1880’s. After finding a company that repaired them and sold me the...

    Floor Jack Recommendations

Not meant for you. Just a general statement. Having taught many apprentices that just didn’t have the patience to STFU and listen…Very frustrating as they thought their basic training taught them everything they would ever need to do the job. And that was even after I would tell them what my...

    Floor Jack Recommendations

We “Old Timers” have plenty of knowledge and know how to pass on if you’re open to sit and listen. Our stories have a purpose too… but listen closely. Also, Simplex and Enerpac are hydraulic and air bag providers. They sell equipment that is reparable. Unlike many of the floor jacks that have...

    Floor Jack Recommendations

Unfortunately jacks that are made today aren’t made to be repaired or last very long. Even if you take good care of them. Jack stands are even worse. As I’ve stated on this forum before… Jack the vehicle to a little higher than you need and put a few solid concrete blocks with soft wood...

How does the retractable cargo area cover mount? And part number?

I have a 2012 Yukon SLE 5.3 and the holes are for the cargo net. When you cut out the plastic there’s a nut plate that the device screws into. The net is convenient, but the nut plate strips out extremely easy. Mine pulled out when my 22 pound dog stepped on it. It wasn’t worth the time to...

GMC Yukon ultimate USA vs Canada

Outwardly they look the same, but there are some features that the U.S. version doesn’t have that the Canadian version does. I had a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4X4 that was a Canadian version. The headlights came on and stayed on as long as the ignition was on. The lights were slaved to the...

    Quick Question ( Solved?)

I just checked the brake fluid and it’s a little past minimum, so I’ll be servicing it today. Any suggestions on what brake fluid to use? I’ll let everyone know what happens. Aloha!

    Quick Question ( Solved?)

Aloha! My 2012 Yukon SLE is getting a Stabilitrac/Traction warning popping up on the DIC. That’s all that pops up, but it does go off after a while. It’s been raining pretty hard out here so I was hoping it was the extreme moist in the air. Any other ideas as to what might be causing this? Any...

Why you never go under a vehicle with just a jack under it

Jacks are designed/made to lift an item enough to get it cribbed/supported by jack stands or some other type of solid support. Having been a hydraulic pump mechanic for over twenty years I’ve seen some pretty stupid set ups. This one is bad, but I’ve seen a lot worse. Some of the failures were...

[SOLVED] Glue Question for Rear Defroster

Aloha All, I purchased some Permatex Rear Window Defogger at my local O’Reilly Auto Parts store. Watched a few videos on YouTube to get an idea on the procedure and it worked. It was relatively easy and the electrical checkout with my meter was a success. Mahalo for all your help and ideas...

[SOLVED] Glue Question for Rear Defroster

Aloha Folks! Does anyone know what type of adhesive is used to secure the receptacle to the rear glass defroster? I would think regular glue won’t work as it looks like it needs to be electrically conductive. Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Mahalo & Aloha!

Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade Owners, We Want Your Feedback!

I have a deflector on the leading edge of my Yuke. It helps deflect stones and debris. I’ve never had any damage to my hood. The idea of sun deflecting really doesn’t make sense as I’ve never had that problem and my Yuke is white. The only use I see for your idea is for cosmetic. It looks...

Hear water dripping after shut down. Air in coolant?

I had a similar issue which turned out to be a cracked radiator. It was just below on the top hose connection. The plastic cracked ever so slightly. It wasn’t until the crack was around an inch long that it became visible. After a few patch attempts I just broke down and got a new one.

    Hello again...

Dealers can be real tight *** a$$holes. You need to do some shopping around. Some of our breathers went far out of state to find a dealer that is willing to DEAL. Going “Used” sometimes the dealers are just as bad. Good luck!

Y pipe leaking at exhaust manifold flange

Magna Flow has a technical assist section on manga flow.com that might be helpful. Otherwise, you might try expand the male side of the set up. I once used a small fiberglass patch that wrapped around the male side. It goes on wet but the exhaust heats it up and hardens/seals the joint. Hope...
