    Voltage Question

General Voltage Question: If you disconnect a car battery's negative cable, and put a voltmeter with one lead on the cable and one on the negative terminal, will it register voltage? I ask because when I do this, I get approximately 8 volts as a reading. My battery doesn't drain even if the...

    4L60E Rear Shaft Seal?

yes, I'm good with all the t-case seals, just don't want to miss a seal at the back of the transmission, that is, if the t-case input seal doesn't take care of sealing both when they are mated..

    4L60E Rear Shaft Seal?

Thanks for the reply. It's hard to tell if that is a seal or not, but I did and do see tranny fluid dripping from the bottom of the housing (new pic)

    Catalytic Converter...

Yes such is life with trucks at or approaching the 20 year mark. Better than a car payment, I say! This is what I bought when my cats failed (not sure what 'do it right' means): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NARS9TR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 easy install, decent...

2001 Yukon transmission extension housing leaking ATF

So I found out that the o-ring is behind the housing between it and the transmission. So it pretty much is the trans rear seal that is the culprit I guess.

2001 Yukon transmission extension housing leaking ATF

no not rebuilt, it was a used one from the yard..it shifts great, and the fluid was bright red. In retrospect, I should have changed the seals. I will replace the rear one this week, as well as installing the extension housing o-ring which I found out is required. O-ring is here...

2001 Yukon transmission extension housing leaking ATF

Thanks for the reply. The nuts are torqued pretty heavily, so I'm confident that is not the issue. I did not change the rear seal on the trans rear shaft, so that could potentially be the problem. The problem may be that I did not replace an o ring in addition to the gasket. I am trying to...

2001 Yukon transmission extension housing leaking ATF

Hello, I have a 2001 Yukon with the 4L60E transmission. I was wondering if anyone has ever encountered the leak in the picture. It is occurring where the transfer case mates with the transmission extension housing. I just replaced the transmission, and I put a new gasket between the Trans...

    Need help Identifying electrical connector

Thanks for the replies! I figured it out. The truck has had the power steering actuator bypass done, so this was the connector that was previously going into the now obsolete actuator establishing vehicle speed/fluid pressure.

    Need help Identifying electrical connector

Hello all, 2001 GMC Yukon 1500 XL I noticed the connector (pictured below) floating loose between my battery and alternator with no obvious mating connector in site. I thought at first it was the abs sensor connector but that was still connected. Anyone know what this is for? Any help...
