    2001 GMC Yukon Starting Issues

Steve, Thanks for all your efforts transporting medical needs, etc. This Covid-19 situation is really bad here in NJ. God bless you, brother! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very high mileage Tahoe for sale

A gambler wouldn’t take the bet because it seems like a 50-50. It could be either the best deal or the worst deal. Chances are that with the interior well-maintained the drivetrain would also be well-maintained. At 100K miles per year, this was driven significant distances every day. As others...

    Transmission flare fitting at radiator

OK. I just looked at the photo again and it’s hard to tell but it could be a flare connection. Was the old fitting flared at the end? Is what I thought to be a “seal washer” really the flare end? If that’s the case, no sealant is required there either because the seal is just the metal to metal...

    Transmission flare fitting at radiator

From the photo of the old fitting, it looks like it has “ISO” threads which are straight, not tapered like piping threads. They are not meant to be the seal but rather to push a gasket of sorts like an o-ring or soft plastic washer against the seat in the radiator. In fact, your photo appears to...

    2001 GMC Yukon Starting Issues

I think you’re in the right track checking the starter solenoid. If it was good, you would at least hear the “click” as it throws the bendix gear for engagement with the flywheel. Since there is no sound at all when turning the key and we know the battery is good, I strongly suspect the coil...

    Pickup to XL

Another reason I changed from P/U to Suburban was that I could fit eight people comfortably inside which really came in handy on BSA camping trips. Also, I loved the 8’ bed but hated only room for 3 in the P/U cab. The back seat is great but then most beds are only 6’ unless one gets a huge...

    Pickup to XL

You should’ve have any problem. The XL can haul any lumber that a P/U can. You just can’t get a bucket of manure dumped in the bed for the garden.

    Pickup to XL

I drove my ‘78 Ford F-150 for 300K then bought a Suburban new in ‘94. My reason was that I wanted to securely keep my tools and things in the back out of the weather. I towed a boat and a large box trailer. I traded it in at 300K for a preowned ‘07 Yukon XL with 50K miles on it. I recently...

    Should I buy a 2019 Tahoe ?

A few months ago my 2007 Yukon XL developed valve lifter failures and misfires. I traded it in for a 2019 Suburban with almost all the bells and whistles. So far it’s perfect. I love it.

    Exhaust manifold bolts broken

I would drill out and retap to install new studs. Next time, instead of risking a broken stud, do this. Using a small wire brush and pick tool to remove any rust from the nut/bolt joint. Then apply some Aerokroil and let it soak in overnight if possible but at least for a few hours. Then using a...

    Buying Question

The extremely high mileage would scare me away. The price is not good if you have to drop another engine or trans in it. I had an 07 Yukon XL 5.3L with only 191K and the lifters went. Not just the VLOM system but cylinder 2 also. Don’t be seduced by the “Denali” bells & whistles so much that...

    Buying Question

Moisture inside could be from a leaking heater hose/core, a roof/window leak or from flooding. Look for moisture or rust under the carpet. I once bought a car several states away that was on a lot that flooded at high tide. I found out a month later and worked like heck to dry it out. I did but...

Water damaged car, clean title, with factory warranty?

The floor metal is probably rusting away right now especially if it was flooded with salt water! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Water damaged car, clean title, with factory warranty?

Run away from it! Flood damage may be unnoticeable and run great until it catches fire from the copper corroding in the wiring! Or buy it cheap enough to replace all wiring! (I’m speaking from experience.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    ‘07 Yukon 5.3L misfires in cyl. #s 2 & 7

I put straight ATF in there and ran the engine for an hour. Then I promptly drained and added new oil and filter. There was no crud or anything that came out, only clean fluid. I was hoping that the cyl #s 7 and 2 lifters would stop sticking but it didn’t work. I priced out the parts to replace...

    ‘07 Yukon 5.3L misfires in cyl. #s 2 & 7

My ‘07 Yukon suddenly shows misfires in #7. And cylinder #2 shows about a third as much misfires. First I threw parts at it(plugs and coils) with no difference. That was just a stupid waste of money. Then I replaced the oil pressure sensor and the infamous oil screen below it. I’ve done this...

No start finally happened to me

Check that you have a good clean ground connection on the engine. If it’s Loose or corroded, it could be the problem. Note that wiggling cables accomplishes nothing. Clean the posts and clamps on the battery for good electric conduction. And make sure the battery itself is clean. Good luck!

    Thinking about replacing windshield myself.

I forgot to mention that I have the necessary tool to cut out the old windshield but it’s still not worth it. Like others have written-Let the experts do it.

    Thinking about replacing windshield myself.

Personally I wouldn’t do it myself. Last year I called Safelite and they arranged to come to my house. The guy had a special frame that allowed him to do the job in about an hour. He was on time, left no mess at all and the price was very reasonable.

    Losing Brake Pedal Pressure

Sounds like the master cylinder is passing. The fluid pressure is bleeding back to the low pressure side. I know you just replaced it, but I bet it’s bad. With no signs of leakage, that has to be the problem.
