What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I changed my oil and emptied the catch can last night. I used my new HF ramps, which worked great. Last change I sprayed off the underside with brake cleaner because it was covered with oil. I was hoping to spot the leak this time. It appears to be coming from the driver side engine block...

Does any use a Fumoto oil pan drain valve?

It's hard to say. But I'd speculate the difference is insignificant, or they wouldn't recommend it. If you think about it, some amount remains clinging to every surface inside the engine. You can't get it all.

Does any use a Fumoto oil pan drain valve?

I changed my oil last night, and on a whim, removed the valve to see how much more would drain out. It was probably less than 4 ounces.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Sorry I wasn't clear. While multi-material 3D printing is possible, I was thinking of a single non-flexible part that replaces the OEM one. It would have a narrower slot in it than the rigid portion of the OEM part, but wider than the rubber part, to conform to the hinge without the need for...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Mine are rotted, too. I'm not happy to pay $140 to replace them. The gap seems unnecessarily large for the hood hinge to pass through. I wonder if someone could 3D print replacements with a smaller opening. I may check into that.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

So after fighting issues with Chiwanese headlights a few months ago, I swapped in my OEMs just to keep me going. You know how it goes. It's temporary, unless it works. Sure enough, one of the old incandescent bulbs burned out the other day. So I swapped in a pair of Sealight LED H13s today. It's...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yeah. If that's it I'll probably let it go a while. Ironically, I replaced the transmission last year, and had a bunch of other work done while I was at it. But I didn't think about the rear main seal.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yes, a smear of used engine oil, lol. I'm still rolling scaffolding and moving pallets around. So that's a future thing.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I've been slowly building my new garage/workshop for the last few months. I finally got to do my first indoor oil change. Now I feel all bougie. On a darker note, the clean floor showed me I have an oil leak. The whole underside of the engine was dirty, so I sprayed it off. I'll crawl back...

Why would you delete the rear wiper?

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I broke the defroster connector today. Knowing this is a frequent failure, I avoid opening the glass. And when I do open it, I don't let it swing all the way. It broke anyway, while the glass was closed.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Wow. It's a good thing the brake caliper is holding the wheel on there, lol. Were they making any noise? This is a great reminder to check the bearings next time I have the front end up. I'm at 155k and assume mine are original.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

This makes me glad that my state requires everyone to carry zero-deductible glass replacement insurance.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Please document this and sticky it. I've been planning on this upgrade, but there are too many conflicting versions out there, so I keep putting it off.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I like that! I went with the fake carbon fiber. And while I like the look, it doesn't fool anyone, lol. I like the plaid, because it isn't pretending to be something it's not. The parts you photographed were relatively easy to cover, since they're flat. But I really struggled with the...

    07-14 Yukon Headlights

I've polished and cleared a few sets of headlights. adventurenali92 covered the process very well. I've found that a quality clearcoat lasts several years, certainly longer than whatever crap the chiwanese lights come with. If the clearcoat was the only issue, I wouldn't have even mentioned...

    07-14 Yukon Headlights

Popping back in to update. I bought a set of these 2-1/2 years ago. At first, I loved them. I told myself I just needed to get used to the different beam pattern, the sharp cutoff, and the hot spots. I certainly loved the look, and that I seemed to be the only one with them. A year into...

2009 Yukon Needs New Headlights. What to Get?

That was my point. The Morimoto are nearly $1k, so they better be good!

2009 Yukon Needs New Headlights. What to Get?

My experience with aftermarket headlights has been disappointing. I bought projector housings with LED bars from Amazon about 2-1/2 years ago. The clearcoat started peeling after about a year. And a couple of weeks ago one developed an intermittent issue where both high and low beams would come...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

That's one good thing about the OEM ones. LEDs would fit. My aftermarket ones used H1 and H7 bulbs, which aren't as widely available in LED. I never did find any that even remotely fit without leaving them open in the back where water would get to them.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

After fighting intermittent headlight issues with the aftermarket units I had (in my sig pic), I finally narrowed the issue down to a bad ground wire internal to one of them. Since I don't have the time or motivation to peel it apart today, I had to switch back to the faded, yellowed stock...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I never use the screw. The lug nuts sandwich the rotor hat between the wheel and the hub.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

How long do TPMS sensors last? I bought "new" OEM ones at the last tire replacement 4 years ago, almost to the day. But I have no idea how long they sat in a warehouse prior to my purchase. Also, this is the same tire that just had the valve stem replaced a few weeks ago. Can these be screwed up...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Man, I'd be sweating if that had happened to me. I read over and over about a misfire code being indicative of a lifter failure! I'm glad it was just a plug. Why NGK and not ACDelco? I'm asking because I just swapped mine and went with OEM.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

When my OEM stock (BB tuned) tranny failed earlier this year, I was in the middle of moving and needed my Yukon back ASAP. My only viable option was to install a GM-built HD transmission, as the local dealer had one in stock and couldn't get a non-HD one for weeks. That was $4200. By the time...
