    GM tried this in the early 70's at least with the Oldsmobile. It never workedr and dealers would make the change to disable it and keeping it running on all 8 cyls. Remember at this same time GM produced Gas V8's running on Diesel fuel another disaster that never worked. Time for GM to learn...

    Hundreds of Car jacking incients have been prevented when the vehicle had a Stick shift manual transmission. Would it be nice if they still offered it as an option, even an expensive one since in my opinion would be peanuts when buying a new GMC Denali for $85k, don't you think?

    Time to move on to a Toyota. I just saw a Lexus SUV with 600,000 miles on it, still running perfect. Last good GMC SUV was early 1990s, sadly.

    pulled trigger on a 23 Denali XL with reserve package.

    Enjoy and be sure to sell/trade up before the Air suspension shocks need replacing. They cost $8k for 4 shocks plus labor to install at today's prices. Enjoy that cool ride. :-}

    99 Tahoe 4wd not engaging.....however.

    Might try a new actuator they are Cheap and simple 10 min. install. I put new one in my 1996 GMC 5.7L 4WD pickup, and it worked perfect. Just a guess on my part. If it does not fix it, return to amazon for refund.

    2008 Tahoe LTZ. No oil. Added 2 quarts, dipstick still doesn't show anything.

    Does anybody know why all this stuff does NOT happen to GM pickups from the 90's? I have a 1996 Sierra that never had any of this stuff changed, and after all these years zero oil leaks, and original valve cover gaskets as well? 4.8L v8. Florida truck all it's life.

    Diesel fuel price has not been close to Gas in the past 20+ years. In the 60's it was half the price of gas? As far as dependability, Quality gas V8 engines can go 300,000 miles. Most old (1990's) GM pickups and SUV's have 250k+ miles and still running fine.

    What a disgrace from a Billion dollar company. You never hear of Japanese SUV's having lifter problems (especially when new). Time to move on from GM.

    Bad rod bearing makes identical knock sound. If it is a Rod bearing (Not uncommon on Older GMC Gas trucks/suvs) could blow the engine.
