Bad crunchy chain slapping sound on occasion

Hmmm, man.. now that you're saying all this. Truck does feel kinda shaky at highway speeds. I wonder if my wheel is about to fall off

Bad crunchy chain slapping sound on occasion

Oh ok I didn't see this part. That makes sense! now I'm also wondering.. if my parking brake disintegrated cause I had to replace rear calipers when I bought this thing. It sounds more like it's in front of me or beneath me however

Bad crunchy chain slapping sound on occasion

I haven't checked hubs yet, but I gotta say I've never had a hub failure sound so violent before lol It also doesn't sound like it grinds when I turn the wheel a certain direction when turning like other bearing failures. So I guess that's why I haven't looked at that yet. And last time I had...

Bad crunchy chain slapping sound on occasion

I bought the truck last summer and it's been doing the occasional grinding sound since i got it. This truck, is an absolute pile. The bed is shot, the cab corners haven't existed in years, rockers Swiss cheese and it even has 392,000 miles. It's bad everywhere you look. But then I saw the shiny...

Bad crunchy chain slapping sound on occasion

Ok apologies in advance, this is technically regarding my 2001 Sierra 2500hd, which I own currently, but I found the knowledge and advice I got on some of my previous Chevys was the best around. Anyways my Sierra, it's my first 8.1/Allison combo. Occasionally, not always, but consistently only...

Good Old Random Cylinder Misfire Mystery

Well, still chasing slightly high LTFT in the 15% range only when I accelerate. I put mufflers on it cause I was making the neighbors angry and I don't hear a tick like an exhaust leak. The LTFT behavior is odd. At idle sometimes it's -.75% ltft, and sometimes both banks are between positive...

Should I replace this Power Steering hose?

Spray it down with brake cleaner and wipe it off and see if any seepage comes back?

Can someone explain the dual fuel tank set up I have?

Ok so for anyone wondering. I was curious as to when the secondary pump kicked in. I found an old forum post on gm-trucks. A guy wired a light into his dash attached to the secondary pump circuit. It appeared to turn on at 2/3s tank for about 5 minutes. Then it would continue to turn on in short...

Can someone explain the dual fuel tank set up I have?

This is so cool. And far more advanced than the old k10 I used to have with dual tanks.

Can someone explain the dual fuel tank set up I have?

Hey all, after blowing up my transfer case due to pump rub and subsequently running dry.. I realized while I was under the truck that I have dual fuel tanks. My truck is a 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500 6.0. Can anyone explain how it works, the capacity of the main tank vs smaller tank, etc. I...

    Is it possible?

Ran into a physical and mental block after battling the front drive shaft. Used my long pry bar to hammer it out a little after soaking in PB blaster. I got so pissed at it I went and grabbed my long handle off the floor jack and the sledge hammer. That got her out real quick. It was a pain in...

    Is it possible?

The previous owner serviced it but never put the rubber boot on. The driveshaft was completely seized inside the transfer case. Took a while with a hammer and pb blaster to get it out
  16. N

    Is it possible?

Can't find 1500hd or 2500 non HD videos anywhere. The shaft has to come out. Or else the guy sold me the wrong transfer case

    Is it possible?

Do you know how these front drive shafts come out? I was expecting it to slide out. But instead it looks like there's 2 ujoints attached to a yoke with 4 Allen head bolts. Do the Allen heads come out or it should slide out. There was not boot on it so it's either seized or this setup is slightly...

    Is it possible?

Looks like pump rub is what killed my transfer case. Previous owner did a poor job at repairing it.

    Is it possible?

So I'd be looking in this area for the holes due to pump rub? He has two, one with 130k and one with 190k.

    Is it possible?

I have located one for $200, came from a 2000 2500 non HD

    Is it possible?

Ok now here's another question. I have a 2001 2500hd CCSB I'm considering parting out. How much work is it to swap the heavy duty axles and differentials, transfer case etc. Doable but I suspect I'd likely need new driveshafts.

    Is it possible?

I blew up the transfer case on my 2001 Suburban 2500 the other day and well, money is tight. Is it possible to rebuild the NV246 Autotrac with 32 spline input shaft with some parts out of an NV246 Autotrac with 27 spline input shaft from my old 2001 Tahoe. Or am I better off with a rebuild kit.

Good Old Random Cylinder Misfire Mystery

Well here is an update. I gave it a week before clearing ltft in EFI live. I was experiencing some surging on acceleration but only for a a couple minutes until truck fully warmed up. I'm seeing way improved mpg, but my ltfts jump to like 15% or higher again when I give it gas, even after fuel...

Good Old Random Cylinder Misfire Mystery

I also wanted to add that it's absolutely fascinating that a cam position sensor that was in a motor that had 268,000 miles on it, and the sensor itself being quite dirty, still works better than brand new O'Reilly's special

Good Old Random Cylinder Misfire Mystery

Ok so. I ended up taking the cam position sensor out of my 2500HD cause Delphi was at AutoZone 45 minutes away. Ordered it but didn't want to wait. No more Cam Position Sensor voltage code. Had the p0300 so I did the crank relearn. It SEEMS my mpg has improved significantly though my LTFT still...
