You can also just jump up onto the ball, that should be enough to get the compressor to engage. Good luck!

Results from Road Trip (1100 miles) in Recently purchased 145K Miles 2012 Tahoe Z71

Don’t stress. I just bought a suburban with 214k on the clock. Yes, I put a new transmission in it, but hey, now I have a 100k mile warranty on it and don’t have to worry about it. Overall she was in great shape, very little wear in the high wear areas. And while the transmission hurt and I...

    Transmission Rebuild time! (maybe)

Yup! That is the plan. She drove well over thanksgiving and didn’t give me any problems (aside from being a pain in the rear doing the motor mount replacement). So far so good. Tested (briefly) 4wd over thanksgiving and that seemed to work fine. Tested it again this morning... we’ve had so...

    Broken Motor Mounts

Thanks guys. I will end up doing the passenger side, but I’m not stressing over it.

Joining the club: 2011 'burb LTZ, some questions

The Burb has a new transmission now!. It was a painful bill to pay, but she is driving great. Attempted to put new motor mounts in, that didn't go so well. Got the driver side done after lots of busted knuckles and cursing. 4wd makes this overly complicated. We didn't even attempt the...

    Transmission Rebuild time! (maybe)

Sorry folks, I've not been paying much attention to the board since the holiday. Anyway, I got the Burb back the Tuesday before Thanksgiving with a shiny new transmissions. Total damage was $4250ish. Not great, but not bad. With the warranty figured in, I think I'm ok with that. So far so...

    Broken Motor Mounts

Soooo, I went to do the motor mount replacement on mine last Saturday, and oh boy was that an exercise in frustration. We had planned on doing motor, transmission, and control arms that day, but we ended up only getting the driver side mount and the tranny mount replaced. I'll say this, 4wd...

Matters not, truck is at the dealer getting a new transmission. They pulled the pan and it was full of metal, so truck is getting a new tranny. We will try out the scan tool when she gets back. :).

Ya, it’s sucks, but not the end of the world. I budgeted for some substantial repairs, but didn’t expect to need to burn this much on just one. But ya, it will be good to not have to worry about it for a while.

Just ordered a copy for myself, we shall see what it looks like once I get the disk/download the file.

    Transmission Rebuild time! (maybe)

Yup, that's what I'm hoping. For being 7/8 years old, this thing is in pretty darn good condition, especially considering it's miles. It's got a few scuffs here and there, but isn't in better shape (by far) than my daily driver, so that's a win for me. But I'm betting the part of me that hates...

Factory Service Manuals - Anyone have them?

Helm says the are slowing building up electronic version, only down to MY2015 at this point though. There are lots of places selling pdf versions of 'service manuals' for $25 or so, but I've yet to find someone who said "I bought from this seller (that is still around) and the manual was of...

    Control Arms and Ball joints

Thanks for that reminder! Yes, I do plan on doing that and will run it out for an alignment afterward just to be on the safe side. I was looking for arms that were greaseable, and the only 'sure' ones I knew of were the MOOGs, so MOOG won out. I ordered CK80669, CK80670, CK620955, and...

All of my steering components have arrived, I'm going to have a fun Saturday putting all this stuff in. Hopefully I don't run into any issues getting the old control arms out.

Thanks folks. I've got a den full of parts from RockAuto and Amazon. Now I just need to get the transmission resolved and then I get all the rest of this stuff updated.

    Transmission Rebuild time! (maybe)

Lol, fair enough. I do appreciate the input. My biggest issue with those sites is I've had a really hard time finding much information and reviews on how good of a product I'm buying. I know they say they offer a warranty, but the real test is when you need to use it. Until then, it's only worth...

    Transmission Rebuild time! (maybe)

No... I haven't. I have not yet dug into the tech2 menues, not sure what I need to be looking at. Is there a sensor in the transmission for fluid life? Or are you asking when was the last time I changed it? I've only owned this truck for <1000 miles, so I haven't ever changed the transmission...

    Transmission Rebuild time! (maybe)

Yes, you are correct. However, I want to keep my core. My plan was/is to have a tranny ‘built’ to handle some additional horsepower and swap it in further down the road, and the core fees some of these places charge is nuts.

Rancho Quik-Lift, Upper and Lower Control Arms, Tie Rod Ends, Hub Replacement

Hmm. I have k109 in the top right corner of my RPO code list in the glovebox, but no CK1. Either way, my concern was that the MOOG parts won’t fit an aluminum knuckle, and since I don’t have that all should be fine. Ordered all my control arms from RockAuto last night, fun times on the horizon.

    Control Arms and Ball joints

So would aluminum arms mean I have an aluminum knuckle? A magnet test indicates that the knuckle is magnetic, but the arms all appeared lighter in color. Maybe I need to go have a closer look. Edit: Just went out and looked again, nice and dark in color, and a magnet sticks nicely. Steel is...
