08 Tahoe HVAC Issue. no heat unless 90

Take the actuator off and you should be able to move the shaft by hand. Make sure the shaft and the door are still solidly one piece

08 Tahoe HVAC Issue. no heat unless 90

You found the temp actuator and it rotates, but is it actually moving the door?

Oops, forgot about a 2nd battery having 2 positives connected, lol

No, I’m talking about under the hood near the first battery in the video.

Oops, forgot about a 2nd battery having 2 positives connected, lol

Looks like some big aftermarket wiring for maybe an audio system—does it have a big capacitor attached?

Bad knock out of nowhere! Please help

I bought a 4.8 Tahoe at auction. When I got it home, I pulled the dipstick and thought “nah... couldn’t be that full. The tube must be full of sludge or something.” Fired it up and there was LOTS of smoke. Then I drained the pan into my 5 quart pan. And again. And again. And some more... It...

Bad knock out of nowhere! Please help

As a side note, I can assure you the motor will run with 17+ quarts of oil in it—it will smoke like crazy, but it’ll run. I’d be willing to bet 8 quarts isn’t in danger of even getting close to the crank whilst running.

    ABS & Service Stabilitrak

If your OBD scanner is not seeing any codes (you didn’t say yay or nay) take it to an auto parts store that has a scanner that can see all the modules. Oh, and I also vote for the battery might still be flakey and you might want to think about doing the Big3 mod.

Difference between 2004 and 2005/06 Tahoe

The whole vehicle looks smaller to you? If yes, then your eyes are deceiving you—it’s the same body. Maybe it sits lower or something?

    Absolute throttle position

It runs off default data with the MAF disconnected—not ideal and it will trigger a fault code, but it should run without MAF input.

    P0135 B1S1

2006 5.3, 229k miles, upstream O2 sensor heater circuit problem. I replaced the sensor, same problem. I rang the heater circuit wires in the sensor I took out and they were not open, which is I think the typical mode of failure. Fuse is good and if it weren’t, B2S1 would have the same failure. I...

    Castech heads question/opinions welcome

I recently acquired a 2003 Suburban with 229k miles from auction. It was low on coolant when I bought it, and is consuming coolant with no visible puddles or clouds of steam from the tailpipe. It has 706 heads and through the oil fill hole, all surfaces appear dark brown with the exception of...

    New battery

Clean the terminals and have the battery tested—there’s probably nothing wrong with it.

    Replacement Keys

I picked up a 2003 Suburban last week at auction. It has what appears to be the original key, and it works it is really worn down. I want to get a spare, but it’ll start out worn. Is 2003 a year that the key can be cut at the dealer using the VIN?

    Absolute throttle position

Throttle at idle should be 0–does it rise when you apply throttle? No check engine light/codes? Might try running some injector cleaner through it.

    Transmission problems

There’s some internal differences that switched in maybe 2003 (pump gasket maybe iirc) that shouldn’t matter if you’re just swapping, then in 2006 (?) they added the input speed sensor which I believe changes the external connector and won’t be compatible.

Rough idle part 3 with a Vengeance

You forgot the MAP sensor causes full throttle during braking

Conventional synthetic blend or full synthetic

Aside from the cost, there’s no downside to going full synthetic

    Sluggish response in low RPM's

Is it the same type of sluggish if you manually shift the tranny down to a lower gear before taking off? I wonder if it’s not starting out in 1st.

    Misfire

Swap the #4 injector with another—if it’s sparking and smelling like fuel something is definitely amiss. If it’s not that i’d Start looking at AFM issues.

    Misfire

If you just got it and don’t know the maintenance history, change plugs and wires while you’re swapping a coil.

    Catalytic Convertor woes

What brand cats did you put on and what was the original problem that led to them being replaced? And why not fix the exhaust leak?

Crank sensor went? Changed and now won't start

If there’s no fuel pressure at the rail with the key on, you have a fuel problem. You might try banging on the tank and see if the pump will come on one last time, then change the pump, or troubleshoot the wiring and make sure itMs getting power when it’s supposed to.

Rough idle part 3 with a Vengeance

The MAP sensor, which is totally NOT required, is a source of regenerative braking on hybrid models. It works so well in fact (some might say vengefully—I wouldn’t, but some might) that it turns the excess power generated into full commanded throttle, which the EBCM sees as a request for ‘go...

Rough idle part 3 with a Vengeance

It’s your MAP sensor. They’re totally not required, but they fill up with brake fluid when the engine is running if you spend less than $10/gallon on fuel
