    I feel a clunk from a stop.

To check for dry splines on the driveshaft, shift to neutral as you approach a stop. This will allow the splines to move as they want. If the clunk goes away when you shift back to drive and accelerate, your problem is the splines. GM makes a special, and quite expensive, grease for the splies.

Anyone replaced their unused spare tire due to age?

About 5 years ago I pulled my Suburban into the backyard to hook up my boat for a lake trip. When I started to leave, I found my spare tire laying in the grass. Thank God it didn't come off while on the highway! Those spare tire cable hoists are garbage--and my vehicle has spent it's entire...

Most miles with stock AFM system?

I've got 246K on my 2009 Tahoe, completely stock. 135K on my 2016 Tahoe, completely stock. I'm planning to do the delete as soon as I get time to get them in the shop.

    PM on exhaust manifold bolts?

There IS a product that will likely hold up to such temps, Mica Lube, from The BG Service Company. Not cheap, but a little goes a long way. Be sure to mix it up prior to use. https://bgservice.com/catalog-pg-57/ There is no direct link to the product, you must view the entire page.

    Electrical Gremlin

Does your vehicle have a terminal strip that sits on top of the battery? Not shown in the pictures. My 2016 does. I found the connections on this terminal strip were loose/dirty/corroded. They must be cleaned just like the connections on the battery itself.

Strange start after battery died during oil change, video included

What does holding the throttle to the floor accomplish? I've only done this on carbureted engines that were flooded. I prime the oil system by putting oil in the filter before installation. Why did you start the engine on your pickup when jumping your Tahoe? The sudden surge from the Tahoe's...

    Emergency Active Braking in reverse

Some of these owner's manuals are a joke. I was trying to find the correct oil filter for my '97 Tahoe and looked in the owner's manual. Looked under 'oil', 'filter', 'specifications', 'parts', 'replacement parts', etc. I finally found it by thumbing page-by-page though the book. It was...

    Rogue Door Lock

I've searched several pages of door lock problems and haven't found this problem, sorry if it's been mentioned before. The front passenger door lock on my 2009 Tahoe will sometimes lock itself. Last week, I had some groceries on the front floor and seat. When I got home, I opened the...

    Tahoe saved our lives

Glad everyone is OK! A neighbor of ours rolled her Suburban with 8 kids in it after apparently getting hit by a dust devil. The only injury was a broken finger nail. Years ago my employer required everyone that drove a company vehicle to go to a driving school that had their own track. They...

2017 Tahoe/ICT Valley Cover has no PCV port, how do I run the PCV now?

I don't know much about this system, but I would ask why you can't simply drill and tap a hole in the intake manifold and put your PCV valve there? I can't imagine running an engine without a PCV system, even lawnmower engines have them. The purpose of the valve is to prevent a backfire from...

Where to buy crimps for big three upgrade?

You can get large cable ends at an electrical supply house, auto parts stores, etc. Here's how I attach them when I make a battery cable using a flaring tool and a block of aluminum. I drilled a hole in the aluminum to fit the diameter of the terminal, then sawed it in half.

    Battery Saver Active

Had a problem with our 2016 Tahoe yesterday. Wouldn't crank, had various alarms including Battery Saver and Low Battery Voltage. Got messages to open and close the windows, jump up and down on one foot, etc. Had normal voltage on the battery using a voltmeter. Turned out that the plastic box...

    VENTING!!! Rip-off Labor rates!

So they charged you for 4.5 hours of labor to drop the tank? That's a 2 hour job if the tank is nearly empty (been there, done that). It should have been nearly empty when you took it to the dealer.

Worst shipping ever. Almost everything I receive has Zero packaging and gets damaged.

You bought a part and didn't look at it for months, and now you want to file a claim? HA! You've got to be kidding! UPS sucks! FedEx sucks. About the difference is that FedEx will honor a damage claim and UPS will not. A company I used to work for averaged $7000 per month in UPS damage and...

    Thoughts on K&N air filters

When I had my '97 Tahoe, I was driving an average of 300 miles per day for work. I filled up every day, and I calculated MPG and wrote it on every gas receipt. I did this for about 50,000 miles. One day I mentioned to a customer that I'd love to get better mileage. He recommended the K&N...

$1100 for a water pump and flush?

I can't believe your water pump is bad at 44K miles. The last two I've replaced had about 200K, and both turned out to be gasket leaks, not pump seal leaks. I can't remember the last time I did a flush.

    Trouble Removing Wheels

I just rotated the tires on my 2016 Tahoe. I had driven the vehicle about 150 miles about an hour before I did this, but the wheels and hubs were cool to the touch. I had great difficulty getting the factory aluminum alloy wheels off of the hubs. I pulled and kicked, even lowered the wheels...

Can anyone help me find out what happened here?

I just pulled out my transmission dipstick yesterday and the filler tube came out with it! This is a common problem, so common that O'Reilley's had one in stock. It was a real pain to replace it, and the Dorman-brand replacement didn't fit exactly right. It didn't fully seat into the...
