I talked with my cousin and he hadn’t had any services done on the Tahoe in quite a while. I took it in today for an oil change and fluid changes on the differentials and transfer case. While taking the rear diff cover off, the shop busted the brake line. So, I ended up getting two new rear...
My “new” Tahoe has chrome panels below the factory rubber mounding on the doors and rear quarter panel. I’m not too concerned about rust (Colorado truck) but am not sure what I’ll find if I remove it. Likely lots of glue residue, hopefully paint that isn’t too much different than the rest of...
Hey everyone. I took an ownership hiatus from March 2015 until today. I had a ‘99 Yukon that I bought in 2013 and kept until March 2015. I bought it to tow a 24’ travel trailer with. We took it on a 6k trip from Colorado to Maine and back. Then I sold it :(
I just bought my cousin’s 1997...
I'd add a brake controller, towing mirrors and have the transmission and differentials serviced. Wait on the performance parts until you know how it does.
I had my rears done at a place called "Just Brakes". My shoes were good but the drums were toast. They charge closed to double what a parts store does, so the entire job was $250. I did my own fronts for $160 including buying the tool for the caliper bolts.
We bought a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrailHawk. The Yukon is now for sale in the Denver area.

Here's the new rig:
I got an over-the-phone trade in value for a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep has a selling price of $42k. They offered me $560 for my Yukon which is a '99 with 179k. My tires are worth more than $560. I told them to pound sand.
There's a wire bundle that runs from the steering column down to the firewall which likely has an issue. Mine is a '99 and had similar issues. Mine also would have the "Service 4wd" light come on when I tried to turn the fan on.
I can't guarantee that this will solve it, but it's worth a...
Yes. I used the same setup for my '99 Yukon. You'll have to program the app with the GM-specific codes IIRC, or else load the GM program pack. It's pretty easy to do.
I saw a Tahoe with a plow yesterday. It was a first for me as well.
Do you take it pretty easy on it? Have you had it on there long term? I grew up in Maine and know that most people didn't take it easy on their plow trucks and they tended to not last too long :(
We're looking for a 2010+ Tahoe for my wife. There are three criteria - it must be black, not a rental and have the towing package with 3.42 gears. It is hard to figure out which ones have the gears. Hopefully the 4 low dial will be an accurate indicator before I drive to look at one.
GuzzleTron is slowly becoming TroubleTron again. I backed out of the driveway this morning and noticed some new oil drips on the driveway. Got going about 25 mph and noticed a thumping coming from under the seats. An "I feel something hitting the floorboard" thumping. I pulled over, didn't...
