Mine does it say 3-4 times out of 5 cold starts. It has 142k on it now had 140 when I bought it and it was obvious it had a full 100k service along with the trans. I've been changing it a drain at a time; I'll change the filter this next time as I've ran 10 qts. through it.

It does feel like what I would think a loose pitman arm would feel like, but wouldn't they find that while being lined up ? It's almost like it has speed sensitive steering and it's not tightening up at speed.
