99 Tahoe OBS...Stumbles when put into gear

Ive had the same problem for a while now and I just figured out it was the CAT the whole time. Mine was plugged. It could be multiple problems.

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I did the pressure test on the CATs... looks like its time to upgrade to the magnaflow cats. If I can convince my wife that it costs 600$ I will be getting the JBA headers too.

casing/carrier or axle shaft or whatever you want to call it, is bigger is the reason you need new u-bolts. double check and make sure the perches do not have to be moved before you buy.

99 Yukon Repairs (Front Suspension and misc)

UPDATE: Had the cats pressure tested and they came back bad. So I am going to replace them with the Magnaflow ones on amazon for 253$. Magnaflow 23435 Thanks Sun for your help and ideas.

I forgot to add that its cheaper because you only need the guts of it all instead of having to find a 14bolt carrier/casing for everything to fit in.

It seems to be running better after installing those two components, but I wont know for sure until I get the problem fixed completely. Definitely worth it for me though because the other dizzys are made of plastic and i kept getting broken screw holes for the caps. The msd is cast aluminum.

Im not 100% sure but I thought you needed a whole new axle assembly, but I think you are right you do not need to weld or anything like that. I could be mistaken. All I had to get was the diff itself and some 30 spline axles along with some new bearings and I was set. So this is my set-up Dana...

    I need your help

4 door OBS tahoe/yukon 2wd, it is not the suburban because the rear wheel wells are not pushed into the rear doors. It definately has side steps. The only reason I say 2wd is because of the tire size... other than that its hard to tell if its 2wd or 4wd. Notice how the rear doors are full on...

It sounds like the rear bearings carrier or pinion, might as well replace all 3. BTW if you are going to 14 bolt there are other options for replacing the rear end. I put a dana 60 in mine because I had 2 of the stock GM 10 bolts fall apart on me. The dana 60 fits into the stock carrier as long...

99 Yukon Repairs (Front Suspension and misc)

UPDATE: OK for anyone with an 4wd OBS and you decide to do ball joints and bushings. JUST SAY NO. LOL this task was a ton of work. 1st getting the torsion bars unloaded with a 2 jaw gear puller is no easy task, I recommend a GM torsion bar unloading tool for sure. 2nd getting the ball joints...

    Fuel Pressure

IMO, if it is still running good I would just leave it because those fuel tanks are a B&%^$ to drop. But, the pressures that you recorded are about right. The bouncing of the pressure between 50-55 is normal, or at least my truck has always been that way and I have never had problems with...

99 Yukon Repairs (Front Suspension and misc)

I decided to wait until my lift kit comes in before i put it all back together. So it should be here in about a week and a half. Makes sense about the seafoam... Guess i should look into stuff more before i just go ahead and do it. Thanks for the info sunlit.

99 Yukon Repairs (Front Suspension and misc)

UPDATE: Got everything apart, the passenger side was even tougher to get the torsion bar off because apparently I have hit a few things over the course of the last 212xxx miles. So all taken apart now, and took the LCA & UCA to a guy to press the bushings and ball joints. I have a few pictures...

99 Yukon Repairs (Front Suspension and misc)

UPDATE: OK So I started pulling everything apart today and everything went very smoothly except I cannot get the torsion bars removed from the keys. Per Sunlit's recommendation I am going to go get an air hammer and use it on the tail end of the torsion bar. There is a small penny/dime sized...

99 Yukon Repairs (Front Suspension and misc)

260$???? damn thats cheap, ordering as soon as my wife says ok after I bug her enough. I think I'll do some shorty headers too unless you think that those others will ever actually be manufactured for our trucks. On a side note with the MPFI conversion, is it worth it? does it add more power...

99 Yukon Repairs (Front Suspension and misc)

Yes I know. I have only driven about 40 miles with this thing misfiring. It has been sitting for about 5 months due to a shattered rear carrier bearing on the diff and I just recently replaced it. Soon as I did and then started it up a check engine light came on and started missing. Then I drove...

For all those with 4wd vortec 350 engine wanting something more then shorty headears

So how do I fix this?

If it is rusted that badly I would be careful with the metal around it because you may just burn right through it when welding. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
