Looking at buying a 04 z71 any input?

I know of people that got seat covers from the seat shop. They have some great videos online showing you how to change them yourself.

    Knocking on cold start up

i would stay away from the engine cleaners and tranny fluid option. From what I've heard the engine oil cleaners work great and they remove all the gunk in the engine, and dumps it right into the oil pan. The bad part is that it doesn't all come out of that little hole when you drain the oil...

    Knocking on cold start up

Chances are the knocking is piston slap. Very common on our engines especially when cold. People have said it can sound like a diesel in the morning but usually goes away after a few seconds once the pistons warm up. If you rev it a little that usually makes it go away too. From what I've...

which option would offer better mpg/ride

If you want the best ride, I'd suggest you get a car. These trucks aren't made for comfort or mpg. If you wanna play, you gotta pay! :)

    Who uses Voice commands?

My voice commands never work in my truck either. Usually mine consist of "stop touching your sister", "stay on your side", "don't tease the dog", "stop kicking my seat".

    Preventing and Repairing Door Dings

I'm hoping the 2014 tahoe doors have plastic molding on about the first half of the doors...that's about the only way I think I could avoid the door dings. Didn't they used to make a saturn car that had plastic doors? I thought I remembered an ad where a little kid was hitting the door with...

    Funny Trans Story...

The warranty company wants to put a used tranny in? I've never heard of that before, from any company. I can understand if they want to replace parts with re manufactured and not new, but I can't believe they would replace a tranny with a used one. I would check the fine print of your...

    Preventing and Repairing Door Dings

x2 on the old people. They swing theirs doors open and don't even realize they hit something. I can't tell you how many times I've seen old people in the grocery store pull up until they nudge the bumper of the car in front of them, then back up, so they know they are in the spot far enough.

    Preventing and Repairing Door Dings

I agree with the paintless dent repair. The first time I had it done I was absolutely amazed at the results. I had no idea they could make a dent disappear like that. As long as the paint isn't broke, they can usually make it look like new. I'm in the same boat, no matter what I do, my...

    lifter noise on cold start

I'm not usually one to suggest a "snake oil" treatment, but my neighbor had the same thing with his truck last winter, and used the lucas oil stablizer stuff with his last oil change. It fixed the noise, but again, I'm not sure. He used the quart of lucus and synthetic 5w30, and his truck sits...

    lower ball joints

Taking the control arm off isn't going to help when the shaft is pressed into the spindle too. How are you going to separate the spindle and control arm where the grease boot is?
  13. T

    lower ball joints

Ok, here is what I mean. With my 03, when you take the nut off the bottom, the spindle doesn't just fall down. The ball joint shaft is tapered. I tried 3 different kinds of pickle forks, but none of them were thick enough, or wide enough to separate the spindle from the shaft. It also didn't...

    lower ball joints

Sounds like a lot of work to pull the control arms out, but I guess that's what a lot of people do. I did it a different way and I would do it the same way again. I tore apart the grease boot, wiped away as much grease as a could. Then took a 6" angle grinder with a cutting wheel and cut the...

    Steering noises, need help diagnosing.

Well, I can fix your one issue. When you turn your steering wheel all the way to lock, then a little more, you said you get feedback... Well, STOP FORCING YOUR STEERING WHEEL PAST LOCK!! lol, other than that, I can't be much help! Good luck! :)

    Need transmission advice please

The last time I shopped it was about $1200-1500 for a rebuild. I also know of a tranny shop that's been around for many years and anyone I know talks good about them. Personally I'd go for the rebuild.

    Dusty alternator?

lol, I'm sorry, maybe it is due to dusty conditions, but it sounds like a load of BS to me. I mean, sure, I guess if it's extra dusty it can work it's way into the bearings quicker, but the compressed air isn't going to fix a bearing squeak. Maybe there's something else in there that can...

    transmission service?

I did the fluid change as described in the link, but didn't change the filter. My fluid has always been nice and clean, so I decided to just change the fluid. I also couldn't get the fitting out of the radiator, and I was afraid to try too hard and break the radiator. So I just pulled the...

    Rotors and Pads

I went with rotors from brakemotive76 on ebay. I've only had them on for about 5 months but I'm happy with them. I noticed more stopping power. I used regular oem delco pads and haven't had much brake dust at all...

    Brake upgrade??

That's correct. You can buy the NNBS caliper and bracket, plus the same model rotor and it all just bolts into place. You do need at least 17" rims to have enough clearance though.

Tahoe in Crash- totaled other car

Tahoe in Crash- totaled other car

So the only damage is on the drivers side of your vehicle, and the officer couldn't figure out who was at fault? Um, looks pretty obvious especially if the front of his vehicle is damaged. Unless they are claiming you went through a red light. Any idea what vehicle had the right of way...
