Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

I think the cheap radio unit is probably a dud. I've replaced almost every component around it and the reception still blows. It doesn't even do AM, which isn't the end of the world, but it'd be nice to have. So I'll probably return it and pony up more $ for something that actually performs...

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

The 12v adapter was a wild goose chase because my antenna doesn't use it. Consulted a local car audio shop who confirmed that fact, and they had an OEM GM base in stock so I took it home and installed it (pain in the ass). Put on the junkyard antenna but it sheared off the adapter while...

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

Looking at the grounds (those that I could easily see) they all looked really good for a 25 year old truck. Do the antenna bases go bad? Doesn't seem likely.....the antenna on it now was pulled from the yard, so I could try a modern one that's beefier? I see ones that have a 'tuned coil' but is...

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

So with a 7mm adapter I was able to get a GM antenna on. Radio reception did not seem to improve. Granted I live in a mountainous area, but other radios in our fleet have no issues with the same stations this one struggles with. Not sure what else to try other than maybe a longer antenna...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Figured out my crappy radio reception problem, which was the mast antenna wasn't solidly connected to the threaded base. Because the antenna didn't have any threads in it. At all. It has been just sitting on top held down by gravity. So I went out to the PnP only to discover all the GM OEM...

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

Update - radio is kinda sucky after a few days of living with it, only because my truck has antenna/reception issues. I installed the 12v solution found here: https://www.gmt800.com/threads/gmt800-radio-reception-issues-with-aftermarket-radios-solution.9296/ But still had crappy radio...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I found on another forum that there's an amp at the antenna base that needs 12v. https://www.gmt800.com/threads/gmt800-radio-reception-issues-with-aftermarket-radios-solution.9296/

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Swapped out the old worn out backup camera for the new one, ahhh clear picture. I'm kinda disappointed with the radio, it doesn't have AM band and the interface is fiddly. I can mirror my phone on the radio screen so that's kinda ok. Are the stock antennas trash ...? I noticed radio station...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Finished installing a radio with a smaller screen (old one was a freakin' 10" tablet thing). Pretty fussy ordeal and I haven't tested the backup camera yet.

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

Installation is done. The left & right side of the trim needed about 1/4" cut out so the knob/screen fit right. I used the balanced RCA connectors to work with the monster (Alpine) amp inputs because I didn't want to rip that whole setup out. So because this radio's amp is now going into...

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

I got the new hardware & new radio, but the PO also installed an aftermarket amp/sub setup which makes this job a bit of a hassle. The 12v, camera etc. is on one harness, which I didn't fully test yet, but it powers up fine. The main problem is wiring the second audio output harness to the...

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

Or Previous Owner I was poking around and found these guys who made a pretty slick solution: https://reversionraceworks.com/95-02-chevy-truck-gen-2-1-5din-radio-adapter/ But I wasn't too hip on the price, I ended up finding basically the same radio and a Scoshe adapter on Amazon for ~50%...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yanked this 9" screen monstrosity from the dash. My trim bezel had a few pre-broken tabs too

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

My new to me 01 Yukon came with aftermarket headlights, and while looking under the hood I noticed the driver's side had a busted adjustment screw: They're some kind of Winpower bright white HID/xenon lights that work pretty good. I unplugged the bulbs from the 2 little ballast/adapter things...

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

Apparently single and 1.5 DIN radios with screens and all that jazz exist which is good news. So my plan is to go that route and see if it's an easy swap with all the existing wiring.

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

The bezel isn't all the way in which made me suspect it's a 2 DIN crammed in there. I found some single and 1.5 DIN units out there that may be the ticket, I got some research to do.

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

Looks like it might have already been done? Hard to tell if it's 2 or 1.5 DIN. The fitment isn't totally great sitting as-is, as you can see a little gap on the right by the right vent.

Help me figure out what to do with this boat anchor

The pic says 1,000 words. This thing is just too big and annoying to use basic functions like the radio, plus there's the whole distraction factor. I gave it a shot, but my phone isn't really setup to utilize it (I run a custom Android ROM/OS anyway). The PO installed this, with a crossover for...

New owner here to beat the question dead horse

Confirmed they sell the foam. Just had to look beyond the cover selector thing which only offers vinyl.

New owner here to beat the question dead horse

I am now a 2001 Yukon SLE owner, and OF COURSE I have a couple of questions. The driver's seat suffers from the left buttcheek sag and it could use new foam. I don't want to use a janky looking booster seat, so am I looking at an upholstery guy to do this (I know a good one) or does anyone have...

    Another new owner post......whoooopeeee!

Anyway, just picked up a 2001 Yukon SLE, 191k on the clock. Cloth seats, 4x4, some upgrades, pretty good all around minus a few interior trim boo boo's I will rectify once I get to the Pick N Pull. Oh and the wheels are gross! Pic of her here, now onward to the '00-06 section to find answers to...
