BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

A good quality oil doesn’t need additives. In fact, additional treatments will likely throw off the tribology/additive pack in the good oil.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

I don’t know for certain, but I imagine it could quiet it down. I’ll be switching to 0-20 right before my “test” although I shudder to pour that water in my engine and actually drive it.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

How can your dealership not follow the stated coverage by GM for another vehicle? Is GM going to foot the bill for rentals then?

Yukon 2022 6.2 engine died at 75,000 miles.

Ah. So bearings too tight? Just don’t want to see your engine go down again when you might be able to avoid it by fixing now while engine open. Looks like you have really good mechanics though. Thanks for sharing and keep the pictures coming! Really helpful.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Interesting new video out. If to be believed, it is an issue with crankshafts AND wrist pins. Two points for possible failure.

Yukon 2022 6.2 engine died at 75,000 miles.

Vlad - The defect is in the crank and wrist pins. If you keep the stock parts for these you will have issues again as your new engine was built before the cutoff date.

Yukon 2022 6.2 engine died at 75,000 miles.

I think the defect is in the metallurgy of the crank and rods though. I believe the metal is defective, not strong enough to hold together. I don’t think the bearings are the failure issue although obviously your new engine had bad stock bearings. I’m just hoping the crank and rods don’t have...

Yukon 2022 6.2 engine died at 75,000 miles.

Oh man. So are your repair guys swapping the crank and rods? I would think you run the risk of the same thing with the build date being before the day 183 cutoff.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

It truly isn’t safe. If you are in the far left passing lane on a 3 or 4 lane highway and the engine goes, it would be so dangerous to have to get to the right side shoulder. God forbid you get stuck on the left side by a barrier. I’d be scared to death the broken down car would be smashed into...

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

It is my understanding that GM will not take a trade in because then they can’t sell them due to the stop sale. So we’re stuck even if we want to get rid of the car. A lot of people have a very expensive hunk of metal with payments on that hunk of metal they shouldn’t drive due to safety.

Yukon 2022 6.2 engine died at 75,000 miles.

Vlad- What is the build date of the new engine? Since they are tearing it down, are you doing a DFM delete?

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Maybe. I’m not sure if it is day 007, so 7, or 0072, so day 72. ‍Either way, seeing Vlad’s stock engine replacement condition, not really happy it sat so long.

That factory engine is in horrible shape! Glad your guys are reworking it.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

It is hard to take a picture. I couldn’t do it, but with a flashlight I could read it. Mine was K1220072jw4x3162. Car wasn’t sold until late 2022. Engine was built January 7th 2022.

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

I don’t understand how GM blames suppliers. If you watch any tonawanda GM plant YouTube videos, they show them polish the cranks amongst other things. They have automated machines to do this. Blaming suppliers is a weak take given they are responsible for working the crank to completion. Maybe...

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Well that’s fantastic. Just wait for them to grenade on the highway and kill our families. How is NHSTA letting them get away with this!?

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

Do we have any GM techs on here that could give any updates? Also, has anyone had their recall notice changed from the N252494000 to the N252494003 in either the NHTSA lookup or Chevy app?

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

So it appears some VINS (early 21s from some reddits) are already showing engine replacement recalls - N252494002. Most other later years are showing oil swap - N252494000. This includes my 2022 Tahoe High country. From what I gather, they are starting with the earliest production engines in...
