I'd known for a while that I needed to do something about the deteriorated and flopped away baffles on the sides of my Tahoe's radiator, but it really struck home this past Sunday when my brother and I were doing some serious yard work and it looked as if he was getting heat stroke, so I put him...
Ha, no worries!
Nope, I'm going with a stacked-plate, along with a remote filter mount and this inline thermostat (haven't decided whether I'll go with a 145°F or 165°F, but a rebuild kit with a different setting is only $14). This more-square 25-row stacked-plate has the same BTU rating as...
What's the title of this 2674-page-long thread? Do all of the 53,460 posts before mine that aren't replies to others' posts have "a question in there somewhere"?
I'm doing my typical engineer "paralysis by analysis" for installing an auxiliary transmission cooler and I've run across some interesting stuff.
Before I say what that is, yes Tru-Cool 40K cultists, I've heard your proselytizing plenty and know The Good Word of your sacred installations...
That's not "more like a bumper," it is a bumper. The reason is a slow buildup until some gunk finally breaks off and clogs up the small drains that are formed by notches in the inner door skin where it meets the folded-over outer door skin. There's at least two, one along the bottom front and...
Yes, it truly is only a little bit, about 1/4 quart. This definitely doesn't justify another whole quart.
What you left out of "in about 600 miles" is what interval you are using, so we have no idea what the rate of consumption is. For sake of easy math (and in no way suggesting this is any...
This morning, I discovered I wasn't just imagining that I was perceiving a binding after coming to a complete stop and then starting off in 1st gear.
I was researching a different subject and ran across a recent post in the "6L80E TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, CAUSES & FIXES" Facebook group where...
Your suspicion isn't unreasonable, but you need to be monitoring fuel pressure while this is happening.
Have you tried removing the gas cap while this is occurring?
I've had one mostly good experience and one rather frustrating experience with them.
For the first, I ordered a complete new Tri-Five-specific 12-bolt rearend. With shipping, it was ~$2,700. It arrived with the wrong spring perches (too wide); they did acknowledge the problem and offer to...
While I do this, it's important to have a "feel" for the tap's behavior so you're not recutting the threads. If it's taking more than a small amount of effort to run the tap in, stop and find a thread chaser, which will clean up the threads with less of a chance of damaging them.
No offense was meant. You hadn't mentioned that you apparently won't consider anything other than a GM SUV, so my suggestion was solely based on ease of access and seating comfort, which is great with minivans. Those factors have been top priorities with folks I've known in similar situations...
$125 for standard and $180 for AGM. IIRC, folks here suggest against AGM (but I haven't done enough researching on that).
EDIT: I see you have had no issues with Interstate AGMs and recommend them. There are enough Costcos around and they're good with exchanges/warranties, so it's looking...
Had to jump the Tahoe once a couple of days ago and twice today, so the off-brand battery that was in it when I bought it in December of '23 has kicked the bucket. :( Time for research...
Before you go that route, some things to consider:
1) Does the ECU cut off the fans above a certain speed?
2) If the answer to #1 is "yes," was your speed above the cutoff speed?
3A) If the answer to #2 is "yes," then the higher-capacity fans wouldn't help by themselves.
3B) If the answer to...
This will work perfectly fine as a spare wheel. If it's on the front, there will be a slight pull in hard braking or when in 4wd due to the different scrub radius between sides.
