2004 GMC Yukon XL Denali (After Market Radio Suggestions)

I got a Kenwood 376BT, but it doesn't have NAV. The 374BT does, but doesn't have modern google/apple integration. See if there's a newer DDX model, maybe? Crutchfield is a good place to start and has a search where you can specify features and ensure compatibility.

    Questions regarding bose amp bypass

I used the Metra GM11 harness, got it for <$50 on eBay. Retains chimes and keeps head unit on after keys removed. Is supposed to have steering controls but I couldn't get those working. There's a bunch of options depending on how much you want to keep. Your plan sounds good. I used the...

Installing sub with stock Bose system

Wiring paths are: Use fish tape to go under carpet from console to B Pillar (cut a slit in the carpet at console, push fish tape to B billar under plastic running board things) There is a flat spot up and to the left of the steering wheel ingress (looking from the engine bay) where you can put a...

Installing sub with stock Bose system

If he has a preamp out, that will work. Using a LOC from the bose subwoofer or D pillar speakers will also work, although I would be hesitant to use the D Pillars because they might be EQ'd to only have high or mid frequencies.

    '02 Tahoe radio recommendations?

I got this same exact model. I got the basic integration, so I still have chimes and the radio stays on for a while after it's shut off, but no steering wheel controls (it's supposed to have them but I couldn't get it to work). It takes a few seconds to turn on, but it has a knob and...

Body builder manuals a treasure trove of information!

I recently found these GM upfitter Body Builder manuals for GM trucks that are a treasure trove of information. These are intended for custom builders who take the vehicles and build them out for police or other companies. They have diagrams of the chassis and installation locations with...

Troubleshooting parasitic drain after battery is connected.

I actually just realized I wasn't giving it enough time to shut down. Current draw would go from 1.5A to 2.5A and then back down to 1.5A. The connectors going to the ECU were super rusty. One of the bolt threads partially stripped when I was removing it so I have another problem now, but...

Troubleshooting parasitic drain after battery is connected.

UPDATE: After removing the INFO fuse, current draw is ~0.02A. When I reinsert it, it goes up to ~1.25A.

Troubleshooting parasitic drain after battery is connected.

So I've been troubleshooting a parasitic drain. If the truck sits for too long the battery drains. The instrument panel cluster was already replaced by the previous owner. I am in the process of doing the troubleshooting flow in this video. When I measure inline with the battery, the current...

Using factory amp bypass harness I get no sound from tweeters

I also found out that the orange wires in the "bypass connector" are required to be connected in order for the primary connector to have power. I ended up cutting (because I couldn't get a single pin out of that blasted Metra connector) the speaker wires for the doors out of the connector and...

Using factory amp bypass harness I get no sound from tweeters

They talk about the bypass connector and the issue with the tweeters in the video in this post about another way to bypass the amp around 8:00.

Using factory amp bypass harness I get no sound from tweeters

I started a collection of information that might be useful to anyone experiencing these issues or trying to figure out the wiring. It's available here.

Using factory amp bypass harness I get no sound from tweeters

The tweeters in the A Pillars. I think the harness behind the climate control is connected to a plug from the amp that also feeds the tweeters. If I connect the "bypass harness" the front and rear door speakers and the D Pillar twiddlers receive sound. I ran wires from the woofers to the A...

Using factory amp bypass harness I get no sound from tweeters

I have a 2003 Yukon with Bose (UQ7 w/o Y91). My bose amp died and I'd like to replace the head unit as well. I was reading here that there is a factory harness behind the climate control I could use instead of running all new wires. However, when using the harness, there's no sound from the...
