    6L80E compability?

Unless you're up for the challenge of rebuilding it yourself, I'd strongly advise finding a local, reputable builder. If you have any other questions, please either start a separate thread or feel free to post them in my 6L80 Information Thread - link is in my signature line.

    6L80E compability?

Trannies can come in all shapes and sizes though it’s a good thing you don’t have many of them over there; we have way too many of them over here. It is also unfortunate that you don’t have a lot of 6L80 transmissions in your part of the world. I imagine that makes it difficult and expensive to...

    Low & reverse are slipping

@Matthew Jeschke - I'm thinking you may have somewhat stressed the forward and low reverse/reverse input clutch packs when you got on it heavy when it was low on fluid, assuming that occurred recently and the surging (slipping, delayed engagements?) was not happening until then. Your fluid looks...

    Bumping sensation

Normal. My 6L80 in my 2009 Sierra does the same thing on occasion...It occurs when I tap the throttle then immediately let off and brake when coming to a stop. If it begins to happen more frequently or other symptoms begin to present, contact your builder or company that performed the rebuild...

    6L80E compability?

No, at least not as-is. Why not rebuild (or have rebuilt) your existing transmission?

    Slip between 5th and 6th?

Was your TEHCM replaced when the transmission was rebuilt last? What about the valve body - was it vac tested and a valve body correction kit installed (example would be the Sonnax Zip kit). Take a look at your paperwork if not sure. If you do have a scanner, you'll be looking at pressure...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

My guess is your pump's pressure regulator valve is beginning to wear; the TC is also likely on borrowed time. I would start planning for a rebuild sometime w/in the next few thousand miles or so as symptoms worsen.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Likewise, hope all is well with you also. My PMs are turned off so that folks don't ask me tech questions in PM as it is duplicative for me and defeats the purpose of having an open forum in the first place. Can't really suggest anything until I have more details such as mileage on the...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Is it under GM’s powertrain warranty? If so, restore the factory tune to the TEHCM and start the warranty claims process with GM.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Was the TEHCM replaced as part of the rebuild? If so, was it replaced with a brand new, GM TEHCM? Were there prior issues of hard 5-4 downshift before the transmission was overhauled? Was the valve body vacuum tested? Any codes stored in the ECM?

I guess I don’t need reverse any longer SOLVED

Sorry, been slammed with work in the shop as of late so haven't been online as much. I don't have any 10-speed valve bodies...I've been trying to acquire a couple 10-speed cores to learn on but it's been extremely difficult as GM is charging over $3,000 for just a core. So no one is not turning...

    10L80 not shifting p0777

I haven't actually begun working on the 10 speeds for GM and Ford as of yet but planning to start this fall. That said, I'll have to take away the above and research it a bit. See if there's an obvious solution(s) that don't involve a full overhaul. False neutrals are usually indicative of...

Transmission shudder - what about it?

I’m not up on what years/models have only the 10 speeds as I haven’t started building those transmissions. That said, its impossible to tell whether or not you caught your problem in time apart from letting time pass and see what happens. Worst case scenario, it needs to come out for...

Transmission shudder - what about it?

What transmission do you have? An eight or ten speed? I’d update your thread title with that info and maybe something a bit more specific instead of “what about it” The eight speed units are known to have shuddering issues as a result of not having the most updated fluid in the unit so if...

    Transmision help

There are no such things a 'brand new' 4L60Es unless you're purchasing a 4L75 unit from GM Performance Parts. All 4L60Es being advertised as 'new' in the aftermarket are, in fact, remanufactured (aka rebuilt) and from what I've seen, you'd be much better off going with a competent, ethical...

    Transmision help

How many miles on this transmission? Reverse is purely mechanical in that it doesn’t depend on electrical power or ECU commands to work. So if you have no reverse, transmission needs to come out for overhaul. Replace all electrical components in addition to everything else that gets changed...

    6L80 questions

You should be able to do so but I'd just pull it out all together...Drain the fluid first, note anything unusual in the fluid. If a bunch of metal, debris, etc I'd definitely yank it off the vehicle, throw it on the bench and tear it down. Or you can see if you can find a good used replacement...

    6L80 questions

Pull the back cover off and check it. Also check for wear in the cover itself. You may end up replacing both chain and cover.

    6L80 questions

At 193k, it’s on borrowed time so I’d start planning for an overhaul if you haven’t already started along those lines. False neutrals at highway speed can be a few different things but 456 clutch wearing and in the process of failing has to be a suspect at 193,000 on the clock.

    07 Escalade 6L80 into 12 Escalade - swapping 2012 valve body/TCM into the 2007 6L80

Not sure if you have solved for the above but you can install the 2011 unit and either program the TEHCM to the vehicle or swap over the 2007's TEHCM-VB assembly and then run a fast adapt relearn before driving it.

Bumping this thread up with a brand new 4L60E rebuild series! This is a full level 1.5 build with several choice upgrades for durability and to support towing/hauling within the limits of what the vehicle can handle. This video series will supercede my previous 4L60E rebuild as it's vastly...

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

You can install the 2011 replacement and have that TEHCM programmed to your vehicle, assuming there's no problems w/the replacement's TEHCM, IMS, valve body and/or speed sensor harness assembly. Keep your other unit close by in the event you have to swap in your other TEHCM/VB/IMS/Harness assy...
