Need advice on an 07 yukon denali transmission its a 6l80e

Sounds like you took it to a flat rate shop. "flat rate" is an industry term for shops that literally do as little as possible to slap/patch a transmission back together for a much lower price; 30-90 days is the typical warranty. More than likely, frictions other then what were bad, were reused...

    Yep, and they're oversized:cool:

Hard Trany shifts. Q’s for the pros

Sure, no harm in doing so plus you familiarize yourself with the trans. Worst case, it doesn't fix it and you just yank out unit and go through it. Meanwhile, you still have the shift kit in the VB, new harness, etc which can go right back on during overhaul.

For a daily driver that flexes into a moderate performance or heavy duty role, id do an Alto High Energy clutch module, 3-4 power pack, vette servo, sonnax hp1 performance pac, sonnax smart shell, transgo unbreakable pump ring kit plus all the usual stuff (new bushings, electronics, steels...

I know Syracuse is a few hours from Long Island but if you can't find anyone in town to do the work, you can call Gary Ferraro at AAA-1 Transmissions - he's in W. Hempstead, I believe...Chris Kirkonis at CK Performance is also on Long Island so either can help you directly or perhaps refer you...

4L60E? If so, 3-4 clutch pack is wiped. Time to yank it out and overhaul or replace it.

    2019 Tahoe Torque Converter Replacement

Wow, that's odd...I would think any trans shop could simply swap in a reman unit...Many of the transmission shops in Vegas don't even bother rebuilding later model units, they just buy a reman for about 50-60% of retail, sell it at retail along with the R/R on top and make a tidy profit. If the...

2007.5 yukon denali high rpm 2nd-3rd late shift

When it comes to those check balls, replace them all with torlon check balls in the Sonnax Zip kit. Also carefully scrutinize your spacer plate for wear and replace it if you see the check ball seating locations becoming enlarged...When the #1 check ball gets stuck, you lose all forward...

Still don't know what you were referring to by dumping it for 2k or dumping 2k into it....What did you mean by that?

2007.5 yukon denali high rpm 2nd-3rd late shift

Do what you want but you're taking shots in the dark without the proper diag/testing equipment...I'd take it to a trans shop that's versed in those units and have them do a full diagnostic work-up...If it were my vehicle, I'd drop and bench test the TEHCM and VB so I knew for sure that it was...

2007.5 yukon denali high rpm 2nd-3rd late shift

That's a likely suspect casue, not a diagnosis...You really need to pull the TEHCM and valve body assemblies down and bench test each using a DVOM and Test Block (TEHCM) and Sonnax vac test machine and 6L test plates (Valve body). But generally speaking, 2-3 flaring is the beginnings of 3-5-R...

Thanks; figured given it has the 6.2L but wasnt 100% sure. OP's trans likely needs to come out for overhaul.

2007.5 yukon denali high rpm 2nd-3rd late shift

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a 2-3 flare once hot which is common when the 3-4 clutch pack starts to wear (4L60E) or 3-5-R drum is leaking through the welds at the drum's stator and clutch basket causing the 3-5-R clutch to slip/flare-shift/delay engagement in reverse (6L80). Do you have...

    4l60e PWM delete

I believe this is the only real reliable way to do it, though I've heard of folks messing with the TCC regulator valve in the valve body but never did anything like that myself. Most will tune out the TCC apply in 2nd-4th gear and keep it for 5th and 6th so it's working less and generating less...

Gotcha...At a glance it seems to be priced fairly consistently with what the market is bearing for those units.

Transmission flush or fluid and filter change?

Do both but drop the pan first so you can see if there's anything concerning at the bottom of it before you spend a bunch of $$$ on a fluid flush. If there's a whole bunch of burnt clutch material or metal/bronze etc put the pan back on with a few bolts then yank it out for overhaul.

    4l60e PWM delete

Not sure what you mean by "skip and bump-bump" but you should feel it applying/locking up (rpms drop by 300 or so) in 4th once you've started to cruise (low throttle angle) and unlocking when you throttle up from cruise to either climb a grade or pass someone but not at WOT. You may or may not...

    4l60e PWM delete

Your description is text-book for how a converted PWM TCC regulated apply should feel...You def feel your TCC applying and un-locking...That's what you want to feel...GM's PWM TCC's gradual apply basically builds in slip when it's not needed and ultimately results in more stress on the converter...

    Tonyrodz's Tahoe Build Thread

Sometimes, but some times codes won't set...In the absence of DTCs, simply focus on the symptoms. A 3-4 clutch pack failure never sets a DTC, the software for the 4-speed units isn't as sophisticated as later model transmissions so it's not going to be aware of much in the way of gear ratio...

    Tonyrodz's Tahoe Build Thread

Maybe, maybe not...There's the boost valve and sleeve that can be swapped out with the transmission still in the vehicle...You'll need a small pair of interior/exterior snap ring pliers to do it but it's not difficult...A worn boost valve will cause the issues you're having as well...I always...

    Tonyrodz's Tahoe Build Thread

@Tonyrodz - being over filled by one quart or so shouldn't cause any problems and the excess would simply purge from the vent tube on top of the unit. Neutral conditions at high and/or WOT indicate apply pressure issues or worn applied elements in whichever circuit/gear that is producing the...
