    Is my Tahoe lifted?

There are many types of lifts. To spot the simple ones, poke your head under the rear of the truck and look for any type of spacer that sits between the axle and the spring. There is a spring perch that holds the spring in place, but you are looking for something thick. Same goes for the...

    Z55 delete

I just did the front of my 2011 Z71. I reused all the original factory parts of the strut as they were in “serviceable” condition and just swapped the bilstein in. The spring perch from your existing strut must be removed and inserted onto the bilsteins with the rest of the parts. If you are...

Will GM dealers enter repairs in carfax??

There are over 250,000 auto businesses that report to carfax by VIN. Some are more detailed than others, but generally you can get a pretty good snapshot of what was done, and how often. Even from jiffy lube. If you PM me the VIN and an email address I will see about getting you a PDF of the...

    Replace plugs, wires, and coils.

Unfortunately I was in a hurry to get it back together and head to work. I did not however mess with the center electrode. I wiped off the ceramic and tip where wire connects. If I get a chance I’ll pull it this weekend, note the numbers and snap a photo.

    Replace plugs, wires, and coils.

This weekend I ran into a po305 engine code. Misfire on cylinder 5. Pulled plug didn’t look bad, but it is a NGK. The center electrode looked pretty slim, down to a small point. I cleaned it up a bit and put it back in. Cleared code and all is running fine so far. I bought truck in December...

    Raptor style grill lights

I saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee this morning on my commute to work with a similar set up. Looked terrible because of how narrow the front end is. Yours looks much better due to the spacing and width of headlights. JMO

    Strut with level spacer help

I took care of this first thing this morning. Your advice was spot on. I took my time and was careful with all the brake lines and ABS wires. Went together easy peasy. Had to vice grip the ball joint stud to eliminate spinning on one side, but that was it. Thank you!!

    Strut with level spacer help

Thanks for the info. Truck came this way and I wasn’t sure about the spacer until I had the old one out. Figured what comes out, should go back in………. ‍♂️ I will look into the new upper CA’s. Is there a suggestion on brand, lift items are all new to me.

    Strut with level spacer help

Just rebuilt my front struts with bilstein 4600. The top has a leveling spacer attached. Reinstalling I can not get the bottom of strut into the perches. I have used a hydraulic Jack under the strut knuckle to compress it, but I end up lifting the entire front end. I have removed the sway...

    Flex Fuel

My 07 and my 2011 both use it. Here in VA E85 is about .40 c cheaper per gallon. Reg88 is not quite “flex fuel” from my understanding and runs .20 cent cheaper. I’ve used all three. I notice that my best gas mileage on E85 is 12-12.5 mpg. Reg88 only slightly better. But on basic unleaded...

    Seafoam…….. good or bad idea

My Z71 is new to me. It’s a 2011 with 154k. It is in generally good condition but I’m working to upgrade some overdue items. One thing that was recommended to me was to use Seafoam in the oil and in the gas tank to assist in cleaning up internals of the engine. I’m sure there are multiple...

New to site/ my first Z71

Found this 2011. Nice and clean, clear carfax, one owner, with 150k miles. Had my local mech check it over and take care of anything he found. It’s got 285/65/18 AT’s and so far handles the weather like a champ. I have Bilstein 4600’s waiting to go on, the shocks look original and ride like...
