    Spare tire stuck

Mine has been off for months until I fabricate new mounting tabs for the rear cross over brake line. There were no oems (that fit) to be found and I got tired of throwing money at parts that just got tossed. I've had cars with no factory spare so I'm not spooked by it. I need to get it up on...

How can you afford the cost of a new SUV?

You guys missed the Harley reference. Have GM trucks been elevated to status symbol? The pricing would have it seem so.

How can you afford the cost of a new SUV?

And here I thought it was a BMW or Mercedes that was needed to park next to the Harley. Or is it the other way around?

How can you afford the cost of a new SUV?

I can't justify paying more for a vehicle than our house cost. Deep pockets, short arms.

In what situations have you used 4L/4Low?

We had about 15 years on the sand at OBX and found some soft spots, like getting out to Oregon Inlet, but they didn't compare to some up north where the sand is like powdered sugar. The full sidewalls of the tires can be buried while driving along (and they make a weird squeeking from the...

Saying Good Bye to all the good folks here

My neighbor strutted around when he got his RAM diesel pickup, always boasting about the mileage. It wasn't long before the electronics started acting up. The stuff in the dash was replaced twice while under warranty but unfortunately he wasn't quick enough to get rid of it because the next time...

In what situations have you used 4L/4Low?

Sand driving on the beach and stuck in a snow bank on unplowed roads in the forest. Absolutely necessary in the sand.

    California Air Quiet Compressors?

Anyone know if all small consumer oil-less compressors are Chinese imports?

    California Air Quiet Compressors?

Just for blow gun cleaning off things and airing up an endless list of tires from power equipment to vehicles. I'm pretty much using all battery powered power tools at this point so there is no need for air tools. I have had the oil type for about 30 years and have regrets every winter when it...

    California Air Quiet Compressors?

Anyone have a California Air Quiet Compressor? I need to replace my old contractor's twin tank Emglo and want to quiet down my environment so I wondered about the longevity of the line noted. I also want to get past the winter time resistance to start because the compressor is out in the cold...

    73 Camaro

Great project and good idea on the drive train. As I recall emissions regulations were killing the engines around that time. In the late 60's my friend said that we were expert at taking perfectly good cars and making them unstreetable; Every thing got the 60's Z28 engine treatment. You had to...

    Milton S-506-18 Tire Inflator F/S

Looking to sell my used Milton S-507-18 tire inflator. I bought it new. It has just been used occasionally at home for our vehicles but I just got, and needed, a "senior citizen" inflator with a large dial. There are cosmetic scratches on the aluminum housing from driveway and floor contact...

    PCV Tube Connector Connector

Is there a reason for the bend in the rubber connector connecting the driver side valve cover pcv outlet to the tube going to the intact tract? It could have very easily been a straight fitting that would be less expensive to make. I have seen an aftermarket tube assembly (as well as a Delco...

    Brake Pad Material?

I'm convinced that brake dust caused breakdown of the finish on mine which is now promoting oxidation and leaking, so black finish might just be fooling you.

    Normal Motor Oil Usage?

Yes, I left it dry and no leaks when done. Pretty straight forward swap. Actually the hardest part for me, as usual, is figuring out GM's wire connectors and anchors. Those things always drive me crazy.

    Brake Pad Material?

I took off those Element 3 pads in favor of less grime on the wheels. It seems like it took less than a week of part time around town driving to muck up the wheels. The replacement Akebono ceramic pads are cleaner and seem to stop just as well and have no downside so far. The Element 3 rotors...

    Brake Pad Material?

Followup on the Akebonos. I contacted them and was sent the appropriate stainless guides.

    Normal Motor Oil Usage?

In replaceing the valve cover, should the gasket be left dry or get a smear of motor oil like the oil filter gasket?

    Brake Pad Material?

Just got around to putting on Akebono ProAct Ceramics as suggested. Rotors were only 15,000 miles old so I just threw on the pads and they are quiet, seem to brake as well as the hybrids that were on there and no pulsing. It's too soon to tell if they will be cleaner wearing but I am hopeful...

    Thread sealant/Locker?

Thanks, I got that. The other recommendation was for a thread locker but pointed up to this sealer so that's why I noted it. Do you know if this sealer cures hard? Is anerobic? Maybe a test is in order.

    Thread sealant/Locker?

I suppose it could be. I am not sure if I'm lazy or reluctant out of fear of not getting the manifold off and reinstalled without air leaks. The manifolds are secured to the head in an awkward manner that is hard to tighten the studs that hold them together. See the stud picture. The manifold...

    Thread sealant/Locker?

The two things are not the same. One is sealant and the other locker.

    Thread sealant/Locker?

Does it set hard or remain pliable? Due to the vacuum in the intake I am wary of something that isn't hard being sucked into the intake.

    Thread sealant/Locker?

Thanks. Bought it new 47+ years ago. First of the "CoOp" bikes.
