Good Penetrating Fluid For Bolts For Rusty Suspension Parts?

To close it out, I used Liquid Wrench in the morning and the magic happened by mid-afternoon without much strain. Sixteen years of salty winters. Lucked out. Thanks for the replies.

Good Penetrating Fluid For Bolts For Rusty Suspension Parts?

I wasn't looking for "best", just effective. Not using acetone around rubber and over the driveway. I have Liquid Wrench on the shelf that I never used yet so it's worth a shot.

    Rear Inner Fender Liner Removal

Any hardship removing and reinstalling rear inner fender liner on 2008 Tahoe? I see a number of small hex head screws and a few push pins. Anything hidden? Just asking before I jump in.

Good Penetrating Fluid For Bolts For Rusty Suspension Parts?

I am looking for suggestions for effective penetrating fluids to used on rusty suspension bolts. The bolts go through bushings (rubber?) so compatibility would be useful but that bushed parts can be replaced if necessary to get the bolts out.

    Rear Control Arm Attachment Problem

Looking closer the bracket didn't rust off the frame but rather rusted and cracked through down at the bolt level. I called it a bracket but I think it's more like a bent plat attached to the frame tube. It is understandable that is rusted because it's exposed to all that is thrown up by the...

    Rear Control Arm Attachment Problem

One of my rear upper control arm attachments to the frame of our '08 Tahoe rusted and broke. Viewing from the wheel outside the truck well it appears that the bracket to the frame is broken. I haven't had the chance to find a lift to get a better assessment yet. Who would be best to repair...

    2023 Tahoe Premier battery issue

Our Tahoe is older but I accidentally left the rear hatch ajar one night on vacation and the next morning the battery was dead. It was hard to believe that the dome lights could kill the battery overnight.

Anyone replaced their unused spare tire due to age?

Now there's an idea. I might have to get my spare out from under the vinyl cover where it's keeping company with the firewood.

There's a joke in there somewhere.

'08 Z71 Tahoe Spare Tire Wheel Specs?

Anyone have the spare tire steel wheel specs for our '08 Tahoe? Being a Z71 the running wheels are 18" but the spare is a 265-70R17with a steel wheel. Our wheel is holding air but it's got a case of chicken pox from all the winter chemicals used on the roads (in our environmentally sensitive...

Some thug broke into my vehicle and smashed my drivers side window in my '21 Tahoe. Do I have to take it to a dealership?

Dark tints are illegal in CT too for good reason. Too many police are being killed by guns lately and not seeing in vehicles is a step too close for someone on either side of the glass getting hurt.

2008 Tahoe New to me but have some issues

Besides the usual maintenance items, our '08 has had front hubs, front struts, upper ball joints, and a rear end. Mechanic said they are known for hubs needing replacement. The only thing that really was a surprise was the rear end. And it was a struggle to get that straightened out starting...

Maybe not seeing in is the incentive to get in and find out. We have our "nothing" in plain view.

Removing 3rd row flooring, what to fill recesses with?

That's interesting. Wonder if it would do a large area and still be removable. I miss the old days when the vehicles had a one piece insulated flexible vinyl like floor covering.

    What engine oil?

And here I had assumed that Chevy solved rear main bearing seal issues of the 60's. Hope mine holds up because I hate oil leaks. Contrary to popular rumors, my old Triumph has never been a leaker.

    spark plug change 5.3

I did my 2008 Tahoe without removing anything. There was a bit of cursing and scraped skin, but it got done in about four time more time than other Chevy V8's I've owned. It amazing that all that room under the hood wasn't put to better use.

    What engine oil?

I have had more than one occasion where switching from conventional to synthetic oil on older vehicles caused almost immediate leaks. Those were vehicles that never saw synthetic oil before though and were not spec'd to use it. I followed the popular claims that people used synthetic oil in...

    Headlight restoration

I know the feeling. I had to replace a $3 running light. Part way through it seemed like it might have been more than a hundred dollar job. Where in hell did those Engineers (I shouldn't even capitalize it) go to school?
