    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

Ok, so I took a quick peek at the ball joints and stuff real quick, and definitely noticed that all 4 ball joints are starting to crack at the boots, and looks like a have a blown shock on the passenger side. I’m assuming this residue on the shock isn’t from something else. My truck does have...

No problem at all, I appreciate you providing all the part numbers. I totally agree, I only want to do this job once and hopefully I won’t have to think about it again until my dash has 100k more miles on it than it does now lol. I think AC delco parts should be just as good as moog, or at least...

    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

Yeah I’ve always been a fan of Bilstein’s, I’ve ran them on all my Mustang’s, so it was a no brainer to put them on the Tahoe. I think the HD are already pretty stiff though, so maybe I should stick with them.

Awesome, what brand are the parts? Also, what is the “steering dampen and link kit?” Not familiar with that part, unless you mean center link?

Thank you! I will check out your post. I’m not opposed to the Ebay kit, I guess I’m just a little concerned with longevity, and don’t want to do the job twice. How would you compare the 5100’s to the 4600’s, ride quality wise?

    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

Thanks for the detailed response. I’m aware of all the parts involved in the front steering and suspension setup, but I just wasn’t sure exactly how to diagnose what could be at fault in this situation. I will do more research and get with some of my mechanic buddies to help me out with diag...

That’s what I’ve been thinking about. How did it feel after the install?

    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

Thanks! Yeah, I’m not altering anything until I figure out what is making these noises, creaks, knocks etc. I know most of the play is probably the steering box, but there’s gotta be more worn out at 262k than only what can be seen visually?

    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

Here a Are a few pics I was able to capture while the tires were being installed today. I keep hearing that everything looks really surprisingly great underneath for such high miles, but it certainly doesn’t feel that way on the road to me. I want it to ride like as new as possible.

    High mileage suspension/steering refresh.

Hello all. I don’t post here much, and I didn’t find all the answers I was looking for by searching. My 2004 Z71 has 262k miles & I think it’s time to refresh the suspension & steering components. I bought the truck with 214k miles, & as far as I know all of the suspension & steering...

04 Z71, Engine getting tired at 253K miles

2005. It has a cam, full B&B exhaust, & a tune, & it made 418rwhp/393rwtq. Pretty fun car for a sedan. I've had it since 2011.

Yeah, I figured. I have to do so with my CTSV, so no biggie.

04 Z71, Engine getting tired at 253K miles

It's been a long time since I've driven a 6.0 (I test drove a Denali once), so I won't have much to compare it to, but either way, I think I will be happy with the 6.0.

Noticeable power difference between it & 5.3?

04 Z71, Engine getting tired at 253K miles

Thanks for all the info guys. I got antsy and picked up a lower mileage LQ9 from an 05 Escalade lol. Going to reseal & freshen it up a bit & drop it in.

It seems it used a qt over the last 3 weeks or so.

04 Z71, Engine getting tired at 253K miles

Truthfully I don't know, I was just assuming. I should probably do a compression test before doing anything else. Truck still runs fine, but I can't really tell if it's down on power or anything, because it's had high mileage since I've owned it.

04 Z71, Engine getting tired at 253K miles

Hello. I don't post here much, & I'm sorry if this is a newb question. I have owned my high mileage 04 Z71 for almost 3 years. It had 214k when I purchased it for a steal, & has been rock solid the entire time I've owned it. I'm now at about 253k miles & recently it is throwing a pretty large...

    Z71 running board issues

When I purchased my 04 Z71, it was missing the passenger side running board. I thought I looked it over close enough because I thought all the brackets & hardware were there, but after I purchased a used running board & went to install it, I noticed that the bracket closest to the rear tire was...

    Mileage Thread (00-06)

2004 Tahoe Z71, 216k miles. Just bought it a couple months back with 214k miles. So far so good. Changed all the fluids & shocks, & 1 blend door actuator, but that's it... No problems thus far (except for minor stuff) & the truck runs & shifts great. ***crosses fingers***

That explains it, you work right near my house. I live off Elk Grove Florin & Vintage Park, Which isn't very far from gerber at all. Thanks man, yeah, it will slowly come together, but as of today, I'm just enjoying her lol.
