First, why aren't my forum hosted pictures showing? I guess I'll stick to imgur.
Second, the drivers header O2 is still hitting when accelerating. I did research and see that GMT900 trucks have TONS of issues with the stock motor mounts. They're fluid filled and while they work well to stop...
It took 6 hours but I finally got my cat & muffler in. I have a couple very small leaks that I'll work on later. They're minor.
Too lazy for jack stands today.
Out! I had to cut the pipe right before the muffler to get it all out.
Muffler comparison. It was installed the other direction...
Is anyone slower than I am??
I got the final parts. 4'' & 6'' flex pipes and 3x vband clamps. Surely I have enough parts and options? I'll take a whack at it tomorrow.
3.5'' pipe is hard to find locally. Most is 3'' or less.
3.5'' is HUGE, I should know..... :-/
I have a magnaflow muffler arriving then I can weld in the cat.
Thats too bad. I have non-catted headers/ypipe and was considering them. Perhaps I'll stick with my plans for a single vibrant cat after the ypipe. I've read they're more resistant to damage.
Great work BTW!
I have misc exhaust parts and connectors on order to finish the cat install. I decided I'm not using a flex join. There isn't any room. Poking about the stock exhaust, the hangers offer plenty of movement for installation without a flex pipe.
I'll hopefully have my wideband in hand next week...
"So I've heard" VA doesnt do a sniffer test. They pull obd2 codes only. If someone perhaps has HPTuners, they might just tune their truck to report all is ok with their cats.
I heard a guy named tgui possibly knew a guy that had a highly modded STi with a single high flow cat and tuned out the...
My mother in law's comment about my long tubes and stock exhaust was concern that my Yukon must be broken in some way.
There are hypocritical liberals like me with loud exhaust and no cats ;)
Hard to get a picture of but this is what I have to work with.
I'll probably cut it out just before the muffler, enough to get a slip joint on. Then I'll cut off the flex joint and replace with the cat and a much smaller flex joint.
Stock flex joint is 10 inches, new cat is 7.5 inches.
Not yet though last night I had time to get measurements and pics of the stock exhaust piping before the muffler. I'll be looking for flex joints and piping now.
It was more important to get my hornsx6 working.
Maybe I'm just a pussy. ;)
All my fast cars/trucks have had at least high-flow cats. Yeah E85 is a totally different beast too. My STi friends would run that. I never did, but probably should have tried it! I was doing 24psi, 15.5 degrees at peak torque on regular 93 so was pretty happy.
You'll need to make sure its away from the cooler and in an area where it gets air flow. I had to move mine on my prev Yukon when I did a large trans cooler.
Per the stalling issue, the fuel line runs by the trans and I think pretty close to the drivers exhaust. I'd see if it were possible to...
