    Died at 70mph on I-75

Thanks for the follow up and registering a NHTSA safety complaint. Sorry to hear about your situation and clearly the Pico test and oil viscosity change did not solve anything. Had you performed an oil change since the Pico test? I have not run 0W20 in my engine since before 500 miles. I change...

    Died at 70mph on I-75

As expected, sorry to hear about this. Please make sure to fill out the NHTSA Safety Defect form online. https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem If you could get the dealer to pull an oil sample from the engine and give it to you, it would be worth sending it in for analysis to see if...

    Rattling Second Row Seat

I have a similar problem I have yet to get time to address. It is just the Passenger side 2nd row seat, it rattles if the back is up and nobody is sitting in it. Not a problem if folded down or if someone is sitting in it. GM has some special spacer washers/shims that go on the pivot point, but...

    Died at 70mph on I-75

Vehicle model year and mileage when your engine failure occurred? Did you fill out a NHTSA Safety Complaint? If not, please do this online as it may help the community in the long run. https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem

    Died at 70mph on I-75

Keep in mind if the engine actually seized often when you try to restart the engine and itis seized, the fuse for the starter blows and/or the fuse box melts which then needs to be replaced before they determine there is an engine failure unless the tech tried to turn the engine from the front...

    Died at 70mph on I-75

Sorry to hear about your situation, this should not still be happening, but it unfortunately still is. Most likely the engine, not the transmission. Based on the fact the engine quit and would not restart and all the 6.2l related problems, the failure is more than likely with the engine. If...

Proactive maintenance - New to me 2023 Yukon SLT 5.3 60k miles

The only way to really do it right is if you can get a borescope to look at how much buildup is on the intake valves and if it's heavy you actually have to remove the intake and walnut blast the intake valves. This is why a catch can is very helpful because it greatly reduces the amount of wheel...

Vibration (like buffeting) 68-73MPH new tires, 3 different shops checked

A few things to note. 1. Alignment will not solve a vibration, it will solve excessive tire wear that can cause tire imbalances, but this takes time for the tires to wear to the point they become imbalanced. 2. Wheel balancing/Road Force balancing CANNOT solve a problem with a distorted tire...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Read my comments above in post #23 about no need to get the transmission fluid to 175F.

transmission pan seal leak after fluid change, twice!!!

Do not over think this transmission fill method. First off both GM and Ford have it all WRONG. WTH were they thinking requiring the fluid to be at 175F"+??? This is a SERIOUS burn and possible fire hazard if the hot fluid hits the hot exhaust, especially while you are under the vehicle. Crazy...

transmission pan seal leak after fluid change, twice!!!

More likely if the pan gasket is not leaking the shop overfilled the transmission fluid. A bit hard to do, but I am always surprised what some people are capable of!

transmission pan seal leak after fluid change, twice!!!

Unbolting the trans mount and raising the trans may work for the stock pan, but not sure this will give enough room to install an aftermarket pan. I was aware of that option however just decided to have space to get after market pan in without a fight. The benefit of the aftermarket pan is the...

transmission pan seal leak after fluid change, twice!!!

On my 2024 I needed to remove the driver side O2 sensor in order to reach one of the exhaust manifold studs. Overall it was not too difficult, as I recall I used 3/8" drive deep socket of the correct size, cannot recall exactly but it may have been 14 or 15mm?? and a number of wobble...

Transmission valve body-no parts to be found

It's all about being cheap, design down to a price not to a level of performance and reliability!

Transmission valve body-no parts to be found

Good luck, I guess you could give the dealer a chance to perform the repair, however, the question is how long will parts take to get and they will likely have the Version 3 valve body or a rebuilt version 2 to install. If the repair will be covered under Warranty, you could go for it, if the...

2023 6.2 with Failed Oil Cooler at 61k

I would contact GM and/or ask that the District Manager get involved to review the situation. When the engines failed as part of the repair the engine oil cooler lines and radiator was to be replaced. It seems the dealer may not have done this as they did not follow GM's process. If the...

10 speed transmission lock up problems 2019 thru 2022

Bad TCM update that is trying to predict rear wheel lock up then put trans in limp mode that will not shift above 5th gear. Many cases on models that already had this update, the software did not detect the problem. Only correct fix is to rework and update the valve body with steel polished...

transmission pan seal leak after fluid change, twice!!!

In theory the trans pan gasket is reusable, however, I would not reuse it if over 2-3 years old. The OEM pan is only slightly thicker than a beer or soda can, easy to bend, warp, distort. The key to a good seal is use brake cleaner to clean the pan, gasket and transmission gasket surface. Any...

Range AFM disabled for 2021+, can dealer tell?

Remove it before any service work, however, will likely cause Emission Readiness Monitors to not be fully set, so I would probably remove it 3 or 4 days before taking it to the dealer and make sure that you drive the vehicle enough that all the Emission Readiness Monitors are in a pass or set state

    Another oil weight question

I know people running 5W30 and 0W40 without issues. The issue is change it often because the DFM effectively needs hydraulic oil to operate.b

Battery Replacement Suggestions... OEM or Aftermarket?

Also put a maintenance charge on the battery once installed every 3-6 months depending on driving schedule and conditions. Most auto parts stores have a small round colored tag on the battery and has the month and possibly the year when they last charged the battery while on the shelf.

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Overall very happy with the results. Less hunting and slightly firmer and crisper shifts. Not harsh but noticable. I have a big thread on here about it. Not a hard job if you have some skills, but the gasoline engines are a PITA as you need to drop the exhaust from the manifolds , just lower...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

For some reason the Diesel temps with the external transmission thermostat run higher than the gasoline engines with the internal thermostat. Glad to hear that GM revised the diesel external thermostat. I don't think my gas transmission temperature everyone higher than 165 in the summer and...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

The filter is not $15, a genuine AC Delco trans filter is around $70 as I recall if you shop it.

Battery Replacement Suggestions... OEM or Aftermarket?

Most vehicle batteries made in the US are made by Johnson Controls. Varta vehicle batteries are made in Germany and usually are OE for most German makes From dealing with BMWs for a number of years, I found that the German Varta batteries tend to be very good quality. Funny enough the last...
